  1. Conductivity. on CPU Cooling Insanity · · Score: 3

So I take it that Mineral Oil has a Very low conductivity. If not, would the small amount of electrical loss(?) outweight performance.

It is very interesting indeed, I have water cooled reciently but what are the advantages of submersing the motherboard over just cooling the exterior of the chip? I know the obvious cooling advantage, but is this worth it?

It would be nice to know the results (speed increases, cpu temp etc.)

I could just see the power supply falling in, or even worse the hard drive.

Dr. Ffreeze has more guts than I do.

  2. You are missing the WHOLE POINT here. on Deep Magic: Matrix, Menace and Virtual Reality · · Score: 2

The moment an article becomes though provoking and requires intelligent feedback some slashdotters run and hide.

Why? Because we are used to being spoon-fed cute little articles that don't require much intellectual input. Sure knowledge is needed to experience regular stories to their potential, but then again any moron can memorize a text book. Some here are missing the point.

I would propose that some who do not like Katz have never felt "Deep Magic" or have been in the "Zone" because it's too hard to think as it's much easier to memorize things. (notice I said SOME not ALL).

Well, I'm going to see TPM at 6pm tonight with my girlfriend who is excited about it too. I personally also saw a number of girls camped out at the local theater. I would say that the Star Wars obsession isn't limited to males but would hamper a guess that it is mostly male.

This could possibly be do to gender forming, where little girls are taught to play with dolls and boys with GI Joe and other things like that.

  6. What Is Linux ? Section == good. on Linux.com to go Live Tonight · · Score: 3

The important thing here is for people who don't know too much about linux and who stumble accross linux.com will have a GOOD impression. (period) A well designed site, with GOOD answers in english that my mother, father and girlfriend will understand.

    Good Job guys!

I know that it contains information about Linux Day 99 (Sep 26th) (which is what I'm looking up info for ) But alas it is no where to be found.

Control Canadian content on TV and Radio...

(Even people like Anne Murry and Rita McNeal have atributed their sucess to Canadian Content laws)

The CRTC is not going to regulate probably because there is NO WAY to ensure that X percent of web pages are Canadian.

We may be Canadian, but by looking at our television and radio programming you will see that Canadians LOVE American culture... so much infact that it's often hard to notice a difference in what we like to watch and listen to.
