Do you live in a state that has "At-Will Employment"? If so, there's very little you can do about it. As quoted:
any hiring is presumed to be "at will"; that is, the employer is free to discharge individuals "for good cause, or bad cause, or no cause at all," and the employee is equally free to quit, strike, or otherwise cease work.
First off, do I believe this inventor has created something worth our attention?
No.
However, claiming that it does not work because it's power source is
zero point energy is short sighted and incorrect. Zero point energy
is an actual true energy source that fills all of space. It is a consequence
of quantum mechanics. If this inventor truly has harnessed zero point,
it would work just like powering the light bulbs with a battery. Unfortunately,
I've never heard of anyone really getting zero point energy to do anything
useful.
I understand Jon doesn't want to have to tell some kid that their mommy or daddy isn't going to come home again. I don't want to have to do that either.
But in the process, let's not forget hundreds of thousands of people have died to give us these rights. In the rush to prevent having to tell little Johnny his father isn't coming home, let us not have to tell those hundreds of thousands that they died for something we're just going to give up.
I was in both programs at my school. I don't know exactly what the "industry perspective" is on the subject, but I can tell you what my school's POV was on that perspective. They felt that the industry saw computer engineers as a bridge between the computer science and electrical engineering folks. There was a feeling that these two groups were not communicating well in projects and that someone was needed to keep the two in step who understood both sides.
I don't know if this is still the case or if it was ever the case, but one thing that was mentioned earlier is definitely true. Five years after you graduate, you'll have defined where you're career is going reguardless of your degree. You just need to make sure you can get your foot in the door.

This is old news. It is also very easy to opt-out. Just call Tivo customer service (1-877-367-8486) and let them know.
Bank downloads worked perfectly for me when I tried them yesterday. Install had no issues. Automatic update had no issues. It works great.
