BTW.. my reply was specifically addressing those who say fructose is the sole problem. In the parents second video link, he says fructose is a poison. That's ridiculous.
I won't argue that things w/ fiber are more filling.. since I agree.
Also.. Sucrose (table sugar) is 50/50 fructose and glucose. HCFS is 55% fructose. Not a huge difference.. so it seems unlikely it's causing all the problems people want to attribute to it.
If you read the links I posted as a reply to myself (CDC)... over the past 30 years, calorie intake has increased by 335 calories/day for women and 168 calories a day for men. That's 2lbs/month.
People are fat because they eat too much. Sorry it's not more complicated than that.
IMO... food has gotten significantly cheaper over the years, and people have been consuming more calories. More calories == more fat == more obesity.
But don't let that stop you from searching for that one evil ingredient that's making everyone fat. Just think, if we stop consuming fructose, we can all chow down on our daily serving of fast food without gaining a pound. McD for everyone!
(Personal example.. so feel free to ignore it entirely) I consume 6-8 pieces of fruit/day (in my mostly vegetarian diet.. nothing against meat; fruits and veggies just taste better).
23g of sugar in an apple or orange 17g in a banana 15g in a peach 20g in a serving of grapes
That's around 150g of sugar/day (2/3rd of the sugar in fruit is fructose). Or 2x what the average person consumes (according to your video).
I'm 5'9", 165lbs, 14% body fat.
I guess I'll be obese any day now with a diet like that right?
It's M-edge's complaint/lawsuit... so of course it contains nothing bad about M-edge. I'm sure once Amazon's lawyers get it, they will have their own list of terrible things M-edge's did to them.
I didn't read all of it... but basically M-edge says:
* Amazon and M-edge signed a 3 year agreement where amazon would receive 8% + an additional 7% = 15% of their sales on Amazon * about a year past, and amazon demanded and harassed m-edge to sign a new agreement where amazon would receive 32%. amazon threatened to delist m-edge from amazon. * m-edge eventually agreed to the new agreement * an additional period of time passed, and amazon demanded that m-edge sign a new contract where they would receive an additional 30% (or so) + 10% of all of m-edges sales to other retailers or they would be delisted. * m-edge refused * amazon sent out an 'approved kindle accessories manufacturers' list to m-edges retailers that did not include m-edge * retailers called medge to ask about the list, and medge lost business, and some retailers stopped ordering * medge continues to refuse to sign a new agreement.. amazon says medge breached prior agreement and terminates the agreement.
medge also says amazon infringes on one of their patents... and that amazon lists medge's products as unavailable (where they should not be listed at all) and suggests amazon's own accessories instead.
there's some other stuff about amazon withholding payments, etc... but the above is basically it.
When your job is to work with people, and you screw up politeness as royally as that guy did, if you don't lose your job then something is very very wrong with the world.

Very interesting read. Here's a complete copy of the article for anyone who's interested:

What I said is exactly the same as others have said:
CEO Ben Huh has announced that they will be moving their array of over 1,000 domains away from GoDaddy unless the registrar recants their support of the act.
If they stop supporting SOPA, then I (and Ben Huh and others) will leave our domains there. If they don't, then I will move my domains. Simple as that.
I make money from all of my domains.. what do you think I spend 100 hours/week on?

I don't doubt for a second that they still approve of the legislation.. but if they stop supporting it, then I just don't care. I have a lot of other stuff to do (like my 100 hour work weeks) than search around for a new registrar and transfer my domains. If you refuse to do business with everyone you disagree with, you'll never get anything done. And at the end of the day, godaddy still works. So if they're willing to stop supporting SOPA, then it's fine with me.
When you move out of your parents basement, get a life and a job.. then you can talk to me about ethics.
GoDaddy has NOT withdrawn its official congressional support for SOPA
That's great... Yesterday, I figured I'll just leave my 15 domains there since they backed off their support.. but apparently only in words.
The way I see it, GoDaddy should be happy people are leaving.. if you run a site that has any user content, SOPA will mean you'll have to shut it down anyway.
godaddy + sopa support = one less godaddy domain sopa passes = one less godaddy domain
So they're getting what they want either way. They should be happy.
Person A cannot even demand the source code modifications from Person B unless they *legally* acquire the modified binary.
That's is NOT correct. If you distribute a modified GPL'd program, you MUST submit all of your changes to the original author. The original author may choose not to use those changes, but you still must submit them.
And note, I did NOT say "provide them if requested', or "if the author buys the software"
The school spent a year developing a detailed requirements list that ended up totaling some 3,200 items. This list was given to vendors...... The revised complaint also includes a partial list of MSU's project requirements and in all runs 60 pages, nearly twice as many
So they doubled the requirements, and:
At the same time, Oracle was working out a contract with the Lone Star College System to install a similar set of software, it adds. Oracle repeatedly told MSU that the Lone Star project was comparable to its own plans, according to the complaint.
In fact, "the number of personnel and resources available to the Lone Star College System to complete its implementation... was four times greater than the personnel and resources available to the University to implement its ERP system," the complaint states.
And they dedicated 1/4th number of people needed to implement it.
Now they want a refund... yeah right. The court should toss MSUs case in the trash.

that doesn't quite justify taking in 3x your requirements
No need to exaggerate when reality does just fine... In the past 30 years, caloric intake has increased by aprox 200 calories (source source)
Doesn't sound like a lot.. but if you consume 200 calories more than you need, you'll gain 2lbs in a month.
200 calories easily adds up to obesity.
didn't mean, "IMO people are eating more". meant, IMO that's the cause. People are definitely eating more than they used to.

I should add: m-edge felt the need to sign the first revision because amazon accounted for 90% of their sales.
after that, M-edge signed up other retailers.. then amazon demanded a new contract where they would receive 10% of m-edges other sales.

Why were you guys even with that company in the first place?
Half of the 15 domains (and I recently dropped 8 unused domains).. are older than everything on that list.

1998 Science article of a survey of the members of the National Academy of Sciences
Belief in personal God
Personal belief: 7%
Personal disbelief: 72%
Agnostic: 21%
There was another more recent survey of the Royal Society that found similar results.

Uhh.. didn't you see the reply I already made to myself?
so there are 1.8% more licensees than in 2003. bfd
Apparently, I'm the one who got this wrong.. just read the GPL again.. and that's not in there
Person A cannot even demand the source code modifications from Person B unless they *legally* acquire the modified binary.

And note, I did NOT say "provide them if requested', or "if the author buys the software"
They aren't actually selling his module.. it says:
We are providing complete support, configuration and installation for this module.
Not the same thing at all. Besides the FSF says selling GPL'd software is ok
You would have a case if they were claiming it was their module.. but I wasn't able to find even that on their site.
