You'll have to forgive me. I am a sold IBM resource. Meaning they sold the project along with the work force. Yes, I am a little bitter. But the current settlement should appease that. Even if it is just a few hundred dollars.

I don't know about the rest, but IBM doesn't make most of their own computers. They contract it out to companies like Sanmina-SCI, Solectron and others. S-SCI has moved most of the work to Mexico. But given IBM's relationship with their contractors, they may decide to slide this in after the contracts are signed.

Why yes, I am cold as a matter of fact. No, I'm not hot with this leather jacket on. No, it doesn't matter that it's only September.
A good number of people who are always hot, never think it may mean there's something wrong with them. Yet they shovel away two giant greazy burgers, stupid-size(tm) fries, large milkshake and a diet coke. No, it couldn't possibly be the high blood pressure from eating all those salty fries.

The ends do not justify the means in this case. Not that they have to. Nor is it expected that the two parties will follow any rules including their own. In an issue that could be resolved easily, knowingly breaking the law for political or commercial gain is usually considered wrong and selfish. I'm still trying to figure out why the agreement between the two parties seems to be trumping something as solid as a law. They must be worried they will be sued for breach of contract if they let anybody else play.

I would assume, as did the original parent post, that not being terminal was on the scale of human life as a whole, not individual life, which is still unfortunate. Take the Bubonic Plague, for example. It had the potential to destroy humanity, due to the lack of technology, specifically the knowledge of how it was transmitted. We know how AIDS is transmitted. And we have the technology to do more than prevent the spread. It's the lack of delivery of the much needed supplies and education in the third world that is killing it. I would also hope that the original parent doesn't think that people deserve to die of AIDS, or any other debilitating disease.

I know my mother prays for her heathen son to find a nice Christian girl. They think it's a big deal that I've been single for so long, and I'm sure they think I'm getting desperate. Yet one even said I don't look desperate. I actually love not having to answer to anyone about where I am or what I'm doing. Even with the most casual relationship, this tension is apparent.
