This is a short-sighted view. I was in computer classes way before the dotcom days and during the dotcom days. In every uppder-division class the most I saw was one girl. This has nothing to do with the dotbomb crisis.
Second, to discourage your own children from going into this field is a bad decision. There's no doubt that the IT field is in a hellhole right now, but that doesn't mean it won't make a comeback in the future. The truth is, technology is something the world will always hunger for. That won't go away. It's not a fad.
Girls in general just aren't as strong in analytical thinking as guys are. Simple as that.
But most people are taught to pretend they don't know this (even though it's so damn obvious) because when we were all in grade school, our teachers taught us that "everyone is equal".
Sure... and that's why the NBA is full of Black people.

Another post full of leaky logic.
From your standpoint, there shouldn't be any janitors, busboys, valet parking attendents, etc. either right?
People are happily doing these things. Stop assuming anything about what is "degrading" or "moral", or I will start telling you how disgusting and immoral I think christian people are, from my point of view.
Guess I was using the term ISP loosely, because I was thinking of the same thing also.
But really, some people don't deserve moderator privileges. Your post was perfectly legitimate, but I guess they just don't want to hear the story in any other perspective other than "kill it anyway we can, regardless of any innocent victims that may get in the way."
When are these politians going to learn that the internet is a GLOBAL community? That if they start forcing businesses to collect tax, that these companies will move out to another country without blinking an eye?
But besides, that, why are businesses being forced to be tax collectors, and to do so without any compensation from the government? This is unfair to businesses and ends up costing business owners money, which then is passed on to the consumers.
For now, collecting tax on one state is already burdensome enough. If we're going to start forcing businesses to collect taxes for each individual state, this burden would become so overwhelming that it ends up restricting business and innovations altogether. By then only the big guys would be able to survive on this. The smaller businesses would be forced to shut down.
Very true.... but you can also look a little farther down the road on this issue.
Should DRMs start to hinder what consumers really want to do, third-party PVRs will find itself another market. I just don't see any brand loyalties in this market. Whatever gets the job done is all consumers will care about.
Incorrect. She didn't pay her bill so she got locked out. She can get her mail if she just paid it. It's her own damn fault for trying to get a free lunch.
Between the popups, the annoying array of links to Realnetworks and their affiliates in multpiple bookmarks, start menu, control panel, system tray, desktop, the registry, and who knows where else...
I'd consider this nothing but a cheap marketing ploy. Real network has ZERO creditility with me. I hate them with a passion. They are the AoHell of media players.
One of the best ways is to visit the hundreds/thousands of webmaster forums out there and spread the word about Paypal being the non-paying non-caring bitches that they are.
Why webmaster forums? Because they cater to the very people that Paypal often makes lots of $ from. If webmasters stop using paypal as a payment option, paypal loses lots of potential revenue.
I can assure you that within a day a guy aptly named "Paypal Damon" will show up to do damage control. This guy is always pop out of nowhere when people say crap about paypal. If you do this they often cave in and honor get their asses off the potty. Believe me, I've seen this happen before.
Here are a few that Paypal Damon has been known to troll around:
- vbulletin.com - webhostingtalk.com - anandtech.com - tomshardware.com (not sure) - sitepointforums.com - any other webmaster or online business-related forums
Edit this part:

You are an ignorant fool indeed. How exactly have you proved that Eminem's record sales have NOT been harmed by P2P piracy?
Sales = (X*Y) - Z
X = number of copies sold
Y = price per copy
Z = pirated copies
As long as Z (X*Y), Eminem isn't losing sales?
You sir, need to go back to school.

What's even worse is that they accept ads for christianity, but Amway of evil religions.
Err.... Steve Case ain't Aol's CEO no mo'.
You are stupid. Get off the internet before you go blind.

What's wrong with these /. moderators? Flaimbait on this? This is a perfectly legitimate point of view from an ISP's perspective.
That's what divx is for. Unless they're ready to offer up 100 hour movies, this won't do much to thwart pirates.

And then the uber geeks will release an IM encryption tool that hides the true content of IM messages.
Why bother? Just use one of the hundreds of keyloggers out there. Much cheaper than aohell's version of employee monitoring.
What do you do with your computer case? You stick it underneath your table. How often do you ever look at it? Like never.
So why mod it? What's the point? Your friends won't see it, chicks won't see it. It's like trying to design the inside of your closet. How pointless.
Tell me WHERE in the article it said she had already paid it in full.
Incorrect. She didn't pay her bill so she got locked out. She can get her mail if she just paid it. It's her own damn fault for trying to get a free lunch.
Hello??!!!! She didn't pay her bill!!! It's quite lame for anyone to expect service when they refuse to pay their bills.
So when will your sister be calling me? Can't wait.
Mod him up. I'm so sick of people that jump on any businesses before getting their facts straight or thinking things through.
Yeah it's quite interesting... But.... isn't Halloween already OVER!?
How many days will it run before M$ puts out a patch that'll completely break it for Linux?
Don't count your blessings.
