I believe the point is, why did it happen like that in the first place? It really doesn't make any sense why would reverse the order from the rest of the world. Of course, neither one of them provides that much advantage over the other. It only serves to cause confusion all over the world...hehe.
Even nerds need humor in their lives (All your base, the dopefish culture, etc.). Sure, most of this stuff is not funny...but would it kill some of you guys to lighten up just once a year at least?
Actually, I would say that it matters. Some of us nerds actually choose to go out and be social sometimes, instead of just reading slashdot. Slashdot is as much as forum for discussion (among nerds) as it is a place for news. The quote in the slashdot logo is not by any means dogma.
