I can relate as all the jobs that I have had as a systems admin have pretty much been self training. Even the stuff from the Microsoft books wont cover some of the crap that I have had to deal with.
The one thing that has helped me hands down in my situations is to grab a pc from work if you can and just setup a AD server at your home. Setup users for individuals (husband, self, dog, tree) and administer them in a home enviroment.
When I had no clue about MSSQL but the company at the time wanted one, I had them buy the software and then setup a database on my home server with it. I learned the install process, the tricks from Google(your best friend) and made sure that it was working... then I would break it and fix it and break it and fix it... deleted it and restore it. When I was done (and allow 1 week... I call this evaluation process so you can factor it into your implimentation time) I knew enough about it to set it up. When something else comes along I would just do the same. Not only do you get the hands on knowledge without the fear of breaking the company network but you also get a chance to play with it and apply tweaks that may help you get that raise later on for being knowledable in that field.
In the company I am with now I am a multi-hat system admin... Email, Database, AD, FTP, WWW and the company even put me through Flash training and with all the crap that I do daily I never get turned down for a raise. All the items that I have learned (well the flash part is both training and hands on) I find it easier to learn it at home... if anything consider it YOUR lab.
Honestly, I know many people here dont care about the RIAA/MPAA or any sub-faction of their org... but seriously... how many large companies that use analog video for their digital products. You think TV tuners are the only thing that do analog to digital? Every VCR, DVD, DVR, and most computers now do some form of analog to digital. You have Sony's video camera line alone that has the one button function of burn to dvd/vcd. That alone would be enough for Sony to look into this and that is just one of many companies that have this kind or other similiar technologies. I do not believe this will ever get passed.
If I remember correctly only BRITISH people can be properly given a knighting. I remember when the Queen could not give Rudi Giuliani a Knighthood so she gave him the highest title a non-britian person could be given... somthing like Knight Commander of the British Empire. Link for confirmation. So unless BG is british I dont believe Sir Bill Gates is happening.
Going out to the Patent office to get a new patent on a fun process that everyone does..
1a.) The inflation of the lungs by either will or human response to needs of oxygen.
1b.) The deflation of the lungs by either will or human response to expel carbon dioxide.
2a.) The inflation of the lungs to store air and other gases for the rapid exhalation through the mouth or nose. This will cover blowing birthday candles, shouting, talking, yelling, smoking, blowing bubbles and every other human act covered.
2b.) The deflation process that acoomanies the inflation process covered in section 2a.
Coughing (both voluntary and involuntary) are also covered as well as sneezing.
Wish me luck folks...
I would think lately with all these cyber-terrorist rumors and and still in the wake of the 9/11 issue and the new alert they have going that most if not all GOV/MIL sites are being monitored and would take some time to reach a destination...
I think this recent post would reasure not only Dr. Edgar David Villanueva Nuñez position but the rest of the Open Source advocates that a secure OS is needed. Would you install a OS when it's creators tell you it is not secure?

Is there anything new that Google is working on that is not currently displayed in your labs section? If so could you explain it to us?
Shall we play a game?
All the information they requested sounds like they are trying to increase their database of new recruit possibilities...
:)
You liked the game.. how would you like to kill real people, son?
Be all you can be, until dinner-time

Or if just could be my imagination.
