Voila! Instant secure ftp connection to somehost.com. (passive only). This is a silly example, but it's very handy for Windows boxes that might not have scp.
Do you really believe your claim about health care in the US ?!?
Real life: a family was turned away from an emergency room, given a bottle of liquid aspirin for their child's fever, and DIRECTIONS to another hospital as they didn't have insurance. Their child died on the 40+ mile trip. It happens with alarming frequency.
C'mon people, you're supposed to ignore trolls, not feed 'em. Katz is nothing more, nothing less. Katz's job is just to stir things up by saying something outrageous in the hopes that someone, ANYONE will notice. As to the silly marketing being something new...WTF...Remember: the Star Wars Holiday Special was made in 1978. Actually, I think there was MORE marketing & hype back then. Christ, when the first one hit I went see Darth Vader at Thalheimers; a JC Penny type dept. store when I was 7. I still have a big photo of Darth Vader that says Thalheimers on it.
Only $5K on credit cards!SIGH..those were the days

On the SPEC reports I've seen, they usually provide the list of compiler flags and libraries.
I don't see that info here.
Is it possible that unoptimized libraries like libm would hobble the Mac's results under OS X?
Has anyone that actually knows what they are doing tried to do serious number crunching under OS X?
I'm extremely disappointed with the floating point performance on both my G4 and iBook...especially when using libm.
If you're going to reply with some Photoshop benchmarks...I will laugh in your general direction.
Suffice to say; the one word we knights of ni cannon hear!
And just what piece of sci-fi did Orson Wells write you sad sad little man? Or am I totally missing something, and Rosebud was some sort of starship?

On Digital UNIX I believe it's possible to make the stack non-executable when a process is running as root.
Can this be done in Linux?

I'd care to comment:
I think you're part of the problem. Sue away.
The firewall is a separate issue. I think the original poster is talking about ssh port forwarding which is very handy indeed:
/etc/motd
ssh -L 1234:somehost.com:21 somehost.com tail -f
then
ftp localhost 1234

When I first heard Elaine's boss at J Peterman
talk, I thought he was The Tick.
Similar delivery. Maybe they should get him.

Your statement about NATO is correct though.
Typos? Poor grammar? Nah, it's just that new hipster bee-bop lingo that's so popular these days.
You darn kids, with your TV games, your fancy sneakers, and your Braun hand blenders.
Um, isn't this the one where Luke and Leia get hot and heavy together?
Yikes!
Nike and GM are hardly examples of companies in trouble. Apples and oranges.
