It seems as if you want Apple to play fair? M$ never does! I beg to differ about Apple's own worst enemy. You should not look to the lawyers but JOBS and Gil Amelio! Throughout history, megalomaniac CEOs have limited the profit, innovation and marketability of their companies! Check out the price of the early Macintoshes, $5k-$10k when other computers were much less and just as powerful!
The mac veterns will miss it but don't bring obsolete software or an emulator to run HYPERCARD to OS X. Apple has finally made a wise decision. Start with a new dev environment/language, design, and add more functionality! Reuse of ancient code is futile!
Tell gramps that HYPERCARD isn't coming out of retirement
Has anyone studied abnormal adolescent psychology?
I don't care if you have a psych degree. This is a waste of time to put your opinions on this board if you don't work with others in that mental state!
mod down to neg, please! Get back to work.
Everyone should read Jef Raskin's, The Humane Interface. It's totally useless but so is XFree86 and Windows! The has been no real breakthrough in GUI APIs either.
Don't waste four years on a CS degree. A double Major in CE and MATHEMATICS will pay off. Do a lot of research with the university staff and join the ACM or IEEE societies on campus. You'll be one of the crowd. A few years after graduation, you'll be doing grad research or accepting a tech lead promotion. Your life will be great but you'll have no free time to spend the 4% raise you get each year. Oh, there's no overtime but you get an suitable bonus.
I guess that skipping college and starting your own business is out of the question since you posted that question on the board.
Much of the mindless work can be automated with the right implementation of the SEI CMM *modified* processes in place with less paperwork. Your generation has caused most of this useless grunt work on the SE side of the fence, old-timer. Administration could be simplified if more ZENWorks like tools were avaiable for remote admin. Hardware is another monster that I don't have enough time to write about.

we live in a brainless society!" - D
I was already responsible for a bunch of interns and new hires right after I was hired out-of-college. I told them the truth. This work sucks, I could find middle school students to accomplish these tasks! I'm outta here." The "SMART", intelligent enough to leave, left and the mindless grunts stayed. In the near future when I start my own business, I'll know who to hire and not to hire.
When an employeer hears that a high school or college co-op is coming aboard, he/her has two things in his/her mind.
One is to tell this person whatever he or she wants to hear. Don't fall victim to promised training courses on cutting edge technology that you'll never apply at the company.
The other is to get them to do the dirty work and/or fill in for the "SMART" person who just quit his/her job! Don't get under paid and do more work then the regular full-time or contract worker does less and gets paid 4 to 6 times more than you do. Co-op's are only cheap labor and maybe future employees. Look for a position or create a position in the field that you're interested in. Don't work for a paycheck, work to learn and have fun!
