Who really gives a fuck about what some proprietory software company may or may not do. They still just don't get it. Information wants to be free. That goes for Software, just as much as it does for music. No amount of legal tantrums from the USA will make the Chinese change their minds about this.
I think it is a good thing that the majority of people have no respect for intellectual property laws. They were created largely without our consent, and so we have no moral obligation to obey them.
But there is a similar feel that the "Linux Faithful" and "Apple Faithful" share and that is that we are clearly part of a user and developer community.
My buddy Ben Frankline summed this up the best: They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
Wank Wank Wank Wank Wank Wank Wank Wank.
Carry on wanking, the rest of us are ignoring you.

I am so sick of hearing about 'ethics' and 'privacy' and 'freedom' here on slashdot. Don't you people realise there is a war on ?
Did the events of Sept 11th go right over your heads ?

I mean, anyone wanting to wear a 'stormtrooper' uniform is clearly a Nazi. I wonder whether this auction contravenes France's strict anti-nazi-auction laws ? I remember Yahoo fell foul of this a while back.
Clearcase is a piece of junk. It is slower than hell, and the locking system make it obsolete compared with CVS
You do not know what you are talking about. But then this is slashdot, so I guess I should expect that.
Clearcase is fast, and it does not employ a 'locking system'. Any number of developers can work on any piece of source code from any branch. You probably had underspecced hardware, and underintelligent users.
Do you people really think that the FBI does not have hackers skilled in circumventing anti-virus software ?
The only thing we have to be scared of is that the FBI become hamstrung by the bleeding-heart civil libertarians. Hell, they have a hard enough time putting criminals behind bars as it is, what with dumb juries, superstar attorneys and all kinds of airy-fairy constitutional rights BS.
Lets face it, criminals are the only ones who need to be worried about this FBI virus. And who cared about a few criminals losing their rights ?
This one will run and run. No doubt there will be some for whom the BSD license seems best, and others meanwhile will prefer the lesser freedom of the communistic GPL.
For large scale concurrent development, CVS is OK, but Rational Clearcase kicks the ass of every other CM system in existance. I know this from experience.
I mean, lets face it, code is pretty boring, writing code is boring, these guys who write these games are geeks and nerds with no concept of how to enjoy life.
its kind of ironic that they can come up with exciting games when their real lives are so impoverished.
I know some games developers, and they are amongst the most boring people you could ever meet. Constantly whining about how they haven't sold out to the man, simply because they don't have to wear a suit when they go to work. What a bunch of whining whinging wusses.
Do we really want 'average joe sixpacks' to make it into space ? After all, there is a lot of very expensive and very complex hardware orbiting around up there. One wrong move and the whole internet could be disrupted.
Also, can you imagine if Al-Quaida got hold of this technology ? They would be able to drop anthrax onto America from outer space. I think you will agree this is not a pleasant scenario!
I mean, its a well known fact that water and electricity are not the best mixture. Combine that with the geeks propensity for fiddling around with their hardware, and removing the case etc etc, this looks like a lawsuit waiting to happen.
And thats before we've even gone into the implications of encouraging overclocking (which some believe contravenes the DMCA).
Since redhat software is free, and in no way suitable for education. Our kids need to learn the tools of business, and I am sorry Redhat, but that means Windows, and Word.
I hope the Maryland authorities do not get taken in by this shameless publicity stunt from Redhat.
And all you linux zealots out there, moderating this as a troll does not make it any less true.
Linux is still not quite ready for prime time. Will it ever be ?
The slashdot cruiser.

If you want to see Linux Zealots, check out adequacy.org. They have more Zealots than you can shake a stick at.
This is enough to turn an honest poster into a troll
I feel sorry for those that pay a fare, a fee ? Word to the G.
Did that ever occur to you ?
No, Linux and Mac users are part of a brainwashed cult.
Is this really news for nerds ? I get more nerd news over at the hated troll site than I do at slashdot these days.

It was the last time I checked.
You are Jon Erikson and I hereby claim my $100.
The only other one is adequacy.org
They had a remarkable article on there just recently on how to tell if your son/daughter is a hacker. Very informative.
Talking of off-the-wall comic strips, I wonder how many slashdot readers recoginize anything of themselves in this one.
Yes, I know its an adequacy link, flame away I don't give a fuck anyway.

However one thing is for sure. You won't be seeing very much insightful commentry from the Linux Zealots [linux-zealotry-central.org]

Exactly what does this have to do with Metal Gear Solid ?
