    Ya but unless you got win2K for free or something who would pay for it? I could see may be on a real bad day paing $89. But the $200+?!? Hell no. Betweem the evilness and shit software they put out I dont want to give them one more red cent. And for those of you who say win2k is the best thing since toast...well they said that about Win95, had all the same hype around it. Only time will tell.

    It didn't have much to do with that CERT. It was a bug in the slashdot software that blocked the IMG tags(or something).

    Case in point: The suit against Toshiba. The lawyers got 1.2Bil USD, I /should/ be getting a $450 check in the mail. If not im going to file a class-action suit agenst the lawyers for not paing me :) Its still kinda fucked up that these guys got $1.2Bil over a defective laptop that they maybe paid $1700 for NEW.

    Ive been happy with the Webgear (Av 2Gz) wireless lan cards. They support Linux and I havnt had any problems with them. You can get 2 PCMCIA Wireless cards and 2 PCMCIA-to-ISA cards all for $140. Range is about 1000 feet outside and 500 inside. I think their site is www.webgear.com.

    Umm..NO standards? what are you smoking? Your using a few open standards as you post on slashdot. Ever hear of HTML and TCP/IP? Both well documented open standards.
    I don't know where you get this idea of "forced open source", I have yet to see this anyware. If you don't want it opensourced don't open source it. And yes we do deserve their stuff for free, thats the way the artests want it. If they didnt then they would NEVER HAVE put their software under the GPL/BSDL/whatever.


    And I know Open-SSH isnt uncrackable but if a bug was found then a patch would be but up by some nice person. How do I know this? OSS's track record. Look at older holes that where found, then look how long it took for a patch to hit the net. The time normaly ranges from a matter of hours to a day or to. Now look at a big closed source company like MS. It takes them a few days just to admit to the problem, then you are lucky to see a patch with in a month.

    And DVD uses something like 4 bit encryption, them finding those unencryped keys was only a nice short cut, it would only have taken them a little bit of time to brake the weak encryption by hand anyways.

    And yes it is just that easy!

    Oh, so you think you can just change the terms of the contract after I signed it?!? If I want to download legal 650Meg .ISO files every night guess what, I will, thats what I pay this school for. If the network is slow do to alot of people on it guess what, thats not the other users problem - its the schools problem and they had better upgrade. I didnt pay all this money to live in a POS dorm for nothing.

    Umm, reality check. Its not the same. I PAY the school for my internet hookup and I can use it with in the terms of my contract. YOU get PAID by your company to do work, not download pr0n all day on their bandwith. Big diff there.

    OK, ive learned 2 things, A) you like your "!" key and B) You know nothing of open source programers. NO ONE makes them code for free, I don't see a gun held to their heads, they do it because they want to. And the ones that spend most of their time working on open source projects are a better person then you or I, for they are not so shallow that they are ruled by the almighty $.

    No i dont think you understand, the moderators are not "they" or "The Man", they are your peers. If you posted under something OTHER then the coward account then you to would have moderation power at some point. If you RTFM you would have known that anyone with a user account and a non-negitive karma would be a moderator at some point and that the moderators only get 5 points to play with at a time. So the moderation power is always changing hands.

    I was not exagerating. My setup is linux 2.2.13/slackware 7 on a K6-2. I can safly say that it IS as stable as Nav4.X and it a least feels faster to me.

    Would IBM still be around if there where no IBM compadables? Apple couldnt make it work. And some said cheap clones made Apple look bad..well do the packardbells and el'cheapo K-mart brand PC's make the DELLs and GW2Ks look bad? No they make them look better. I think Apple would be alot bigger if they opened the hardware, they would still have to sell a copy of macos to everyone. If they did this early on just think of how big apple would have been. MS HAD JACK SHIT for a GUI os in the 1980's.

    Other things Apple ripped-off:

    the 3 peace computer (monitor,KB,CASE/CPU).

    Directorys- or as apple calls them "folders"

    COLOR screens

    Use of a harddrive

    Does it really matter WHO had WHAT idea first? No. Some ideas suck, others are good. You pick the good ones and use them.

Why dont they go after the X people with the MacOS themes? Its no diffrent. Apple lost that bullshit "Look and feel" suit, they just feel they can do what they want because they are bigger. I think aqua is gay looking and i dont even run windows...but I would still mirror it of Apple makes skinz.org pull it.

    M12 was ok but the nightly build of what will be M13 rules. I now use it inplace of Netscape for most things, in fact im using it now. It is faster then NS 4.X and just as stable. If you ask me they are in the alpha stage and close to beta. Its only a matter of time.
