sure they'd compete on a market share basis... but if Macs were priced to compete with low priced PC's we'd all be wondering about the upcoming HP/Compaq/Apple Merger... Apple is profitable, quit whining and earn more money to buy a new Macintosh... you know you're drooling about one...

in my opinion, another manufacturer wouldn't raise the price of their PC if supply was low, they'd EOL that particluar model and release a new model (actually just a new model number) at a slightly higher price with a new bundle of applications or something, so that they could justify the raise without saying that the PC just costs more...

kudos to Apple for being honest... hope it doesn't hurt their sales, they just need to start producing the iMacs already...

Didn't the PowerMac G4 Cube run silently? Haven't all of the latest iMacs come without fans?

    Hmmm....

And don't the new iMacs have a variable speed fan, that comes on when you need it, and rests when you don't?

You guys should try a new Mac to find out what a quiet machine can be like...

    Updating your iPod music collection
Say you have a Mac at home and another at school or work. You can update your iPod music collection from either Mac. When you first connect iPod with your Mac, iPod recognizes it as your primary computer. From then on, it automatically updates your music on iPod to match the music library on that computer. When connecting to a different Mac, a dialog box asks if you want to link your iPod with this new iTunes Library making it your new primary computer.

In the Enterprise world, I'm currently faced with searching for a "sales force automation" tool. I've researched about 30 different providers, and the ones that offer a truly Enterprise level software package all seem to be selling them with yearly renewable licenses.... nothing more, nothing less. They are guaranteeing upgrades at least every 12 months, and free phone support for 10 hours a month in general, some more... some less. Most ASP's operate this way as well. Something I remember being offered by one provider was the option to purchase the source code for 4 times the yeary operating license fee, if the company goes out of business... Anyone thing Microsoft will offer this?
