As interesting as this is, I'd be more worried about someone actually stealing the machine than opening it up for components. Even in a office environment, who is going to check each machine to make sure the employee using it didn't crack it open to swipe some RAM?
Why not just use a chain to the desk which locks the case shut? Then you're safe in both cases.
I used AVG for quite a while, but I very VERY rarely get viruses. I thought AVG was great. Then my brother got Nimda, so I recommended he download it and clean his machine. And it didn't work. New infected files kept being detected by AVG until eventually he went and bought Norton which fixed the problem right away. Freeware may be good, but not great.
Here in Canada, Sympatico's ADSL is already capped at 5GB up and 5GB down per month. Roger's cable will be following suit soon, but still no official word. Any info that's available now can be found in the Residential Broadband User's Assocation forum at http://www.rbua.org/board.
On top of the transfer caps both have increased the price of their service by $5/month, and apparently Rogers will be changing from a 3Mbps service to a 1.5Mbps service.
I thought technology was supposed to move forward.
"People who want to force automakers to make smaller flimsier dangerous cars with less passenger and cargo capacity that get more miles per gallon."
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Volkswagen Jetta TDI is an extremely confortable compact with loats of cargo room which gets upwards of 60mi/gal and has a great safety rating. Why would it be so difficult for other car makers to follow suit and build cars that are both useful AND energy efficient?
"Centers for science in no-ones interest who perpetuate tentative and unproven manmade global warming theories."
Please. Step away from your computer for 5 minutes and go outside, then tell me about "manmade global warming theories." You sound like a politician: "Are you 100% sure? Oh, only 98%. Well then, if you aren't sure, we won't worry about it."
"Even under optimistic predictions, fuel cell vehicles won't be mass-produced until 2010."
Won't this be a little late? Considering the dramatic climate change that's already taking place, I don't know if another 8 years is an option, considering George W.'s disgusting energy policy.
Let's hope better alternative energy sources appear sooner, rather than later.
I did tech support for Rogers@Home here in Canada for a while, and while it was not explicitly stated that VPN was not allowed, we were told by our senior techs that it was a common cause of connection problems. I'm not sure if I believe them though;)
I agree. E-Music is great. You can get albums on that site that aren't even in print any more. Sign up for a free trial and you can download 100 mp3s that are yours regardless, and if you don't want to stay on with them just cancel. I've done it, and it was simple and easy.

There's another DSL provider here in Ottawa that apparently provides a non-capped service, and have no plans to cap, last I heard.

...when I took my Internet Apps course last year. The book we used was more the size of a pamphlet.

Actually, the book has been out for over a year now, as can be seen on the O'Reilly site.
No, Blink-182 sucks live. Have you ever seen them on stage? Makes ya want to puke.
I'm at work so I can't try WindowsUpdate, but I have a feeling it will be a while before it shows up there.
I posted above, but here we go anyway: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default. asp?url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS01-059.asp
The information from Microsoft regarding this can be found here, as well as a patch.

I second that!! Dragonlance Chronicles or Wheel Of Time movies would rock too.
