Hey there Mr "I am a lawyer so I must have credibility.". You are the last person who should be questioning the morality and ethics of other peoples actions. Your industry has a pretty low bar (pun intended) to get over. Most of your statements are open to dispute but I'll focus on this one: "-yes she is innocent, as anyone knows who RTFA" I RTFA. There is nothing in there that tells me she is guilty or innocent. Except the article writers opinion. And your free blogspot account. I don't know if she is or not and that is not the point. The point is to save your headlines for the Star and National Enquirer.

I think what most of these responses fail to address is that your question does not match your headline. Since you have no programming experience no place is going to hire you as an entry level programmer. Luck = opportunity + preparedness. So be prepared. The first day you pick up a book and start working your butt off is the day you are a programmer. All of the tools are out there for you. Despite what all of linux zealots will scream about you will have a much better chance of getting a job if you learn something a little more mainstream right like Visual Studio, C# and SQL Server. Right now ASP.NET developers are in huge demand. I know because I am looking for some and I cannot find them here. Go get all of the tools you need to learn for free at: http://www.microsoft.com/express/ 1. Get Visual Studio Expres web developer edition 2. Get SQL Server 2008 Express 3. Take advangtage of all of the other free stuff MS offers developers. Training videos, etc. Get to B&N or Amazon and get some entry level books. Then you can start calling yourself an entry level programmer. Most important think: Work harder than the guy next to you and create your own luck. That is how I now own my own company.

Do not believe in finites, infinites, right or wrong. In regards to your business logic... If someone says this will always happen this way, be ready for it not to happen that way. If someone says says this will never happen, be ready for it to happen. Plan for bad data. Plan for a connection to another system, database, etc. to fail. Handle it gracefully. Nothing you do in application development is right or wrong so long as it accomplishes the business objectives. There may be better, more efficient ways to do things. But give 10 programmers one business problem and they will solve it 10 different ways. Programming is an art not a science. I would avoid anybody else that tells you otherwise. Do not get attached to a programming language or any code you've written. Don't get pissed off if you burn away a week of your life code some amazing code and then find out it was all for not because of a requirements change. It can be frustrating. But it is just 1s and 0s and in the big scheme of life it is just unimportant. Schedule your life first, then schedule your coding around it. Doing it the other way is just unhealthy. Physically and mentally. When you do code do it with extreme passion. Don't do anything halfass. Always strive to learn something every single day. Be the go to guy at work. The only reason I use windows is because I can be productive in it. That is the only reason I use any OS. As a pilot I can help answer this. When you are flying you are constant cross checking one thing against another. You almost always have two indications of every action a plane is taking. My VSI indicates I am climbing - is my altitude actually rising. My heading indicator is changing, does my turn & bank indicator and my magnetic compass indicate the same ? Any pilot who is not always cross checking things is not a safe pilot. If a cell phone interferes with my GPS and it indicates I am heading 300 degrees at 4000 MSL (Mean Sea Level) I have other instruments that I can instantly use to double check that. Even though I am fairly recently rated pilot (3 years) I know the value of good ole analog instruments and checking where I am on a map. I hear of plenty of pilots who hop in the plane nowadays and just punch in their destination and the GPS tells them where to go. Do not fly with these people. If your pilot is not always busy double checking things then you need to get a better pilot.

Gnucash does not have anything wrapped up. It still cannot hold a candle to MS Money or Quicken. People always spout off Gnucash as what you should use when migrating to Linux. WHen it does what I need and what I've become accustomed then maybe. Not to mention that Gnucash is STILL an accounting program when most people (like myself) are looking for a personal finance management package. I just went and looked at the Gnucash webpage. They still want you to learn basic accounting principles to use the darn this. So they want me to manage my home expenses line I manage my business. I am not going to debate whether or not it is the right way for me to account for my money. My point is it is a change from the way I am doing things now. Can it connect to Bank One every 12 hours and update/reconcile account for me? As soon as it can then I will look at it again. Otherwise I am not going to take steps backwards just to use Linux.

And your photography comment - you mention three different products in Linux to get doone what I can get done in one with Windows/Photoshop. I can use Photoshop to preview, edit, and see thumbnails of the pictures on my digital camera.

I don't know of any PAID DJ that still does it, and I have never had a client that said "please scratch" at any paying gig. I am sure that there are some parties that might want it. But not from a mainstream mobile disc jockey show. FYI... I am the first DJ in our group to take the entire CD setup and RIP it to MP3. I am now experimenting with PC DJ and DSS to see how good I can get beat mixing with MP3s only. I have found I can do it with just a basic PC and soundcard, and the sound quality is great. Remember: Most paying clients don't want scratching or the highest quality sounds. They want their requests to be played and the DJ to show up on time and keep the crowd entertained. Most of them don't even care if you beat mix or not.

    2) Have you ever tried using the integration of the Windows apps with the Pocket PC ? I use MS Money, Outlook, and Mappoint. Everything I do on these automatically syncs up with my pocket pc. I have web pages bookmarked in IE that automatically sync up with my pocket pc every day at 9. Every change I make in MS money appears on my pocket pc. Everything I do in Outlook to appoinments or contacts just appears. The integration is very sweet. It makes my pocket pc an extension of my desktop which is what I need and wanted. If linux had anything like this I'd use.

Linux is getting closer every day. And I will help it get there. But I will be using Windows for a long time.
