  1. Free Wi-Fi at Quad City International Airport -MLI on WiFi Free-For-All · · Score: 2, Informative

Within the last month, the our local airport has had WI-FI Installed throughout the building here in Moline, Illinois (www.qcairport.com). I doubt its addition will raise any fees for anyone. Mediacom, our local cable company/Hi-speed cable provider, has big signs posted around saying "Free WI-FI Provided by Mediacom Online" so, one can assume that the airport may actually be making money or at least getting it for free by providing advertising space for Mediacom and Mediacom providing free internet access.

  2. Don't Forget QLITech Linux Laptops on Linux on Laptops Manufacturer Report Card · · Score: 1

Yes, TuxTops stopped production, but QLITech bought their laptops and even their customers who were under warranty. They are located in Moline, Illinois. Yes, right here in the Midwest.

    http://www.qlitech.net

They sell servers, home/home office, multimedia, and laptop systems. Most offer your choice of intel or AMD processors and your choice of pre-configured Distro.

I feel that this article was not very accurate, or for some reason chose NOT to include QLITech. The link to www.tuxtops.com even explains that QLITech took over their entire laptop business.

They have great support and for pre-configured Linux systems, they are a great choice.
The owners also actively support and attend the local QCLUG (Quad Cities Linux Users Group).

Visit their site, pick up a machine, or two ;-)

    Just my 2 cents

Well, Google is great, but it was just a matter of time before someone decided it was time to F6ck with it...

  5. Re:Selling Linux Systems-A workable Business Model on Be Sues Microsoft for Violations of Antitrust Laws · · Score: 1

That's just foolish. It's a formula for going out of business. If it was a workable buisness model, VA Software would still be VA Linux.

Take a look at QLITech.com. They are a Linux systems seller, and they are doing well. Though many, besides those in the KNOW, have heard of them. They sell custom Linux systems, as well as Linux Laptops...

Linux is a workable business model, and they have proven it. They cater to anyone who desires to be free of M$ Windows, or just using a better Software base (GNU/Linux).

  6. Absolutely Wonderful..(Anyone else remember this?) on Time Canada Shows New iMac · · Score: 1

This looks absolutely great.... Apple/Jobs has done it this time... What can you do on a PC that cant be done on a MAC? Not much. The looks alone of this will attract PC users... (Come on... Look at the Colored Schemes of the past and present... The damn Red Compaqs? Too bright for me...)

On a side note, am I the only one who remembered reading something about this months ago? http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/39/19486.html
Yes, quite conjectual at the time, but not far off the actual mark..

  8. Medicom@Home --- Still Alive and Kicking on Some People @Home, Some Not @Home · · Score: 1

I have to commend Medicom for keeping their service going strong. Besides the afformentioned DNS problems(Was over night and back by 9am CST), there has been zero interruption of service... Lets hope that they can work out a deal with Excite@Home, or it may be back to dialup for quite a number of people....
