Or not. I have better things to think about than rumors of Google buying companies they haven't offered to purchase. Like commenting on this story about the rumors!
I've heard this for 10 years. When will people realize that Linux is great for alot of things--but not everything. For instance, it isn't good for the mainstream desktop, and it's odd that geeks are still saying that it will be "soon." It won't. Oh, you'll hear it is. But don't believe it.
In the meantime, I'll be using my Mac. They've been ready for the mainstream desktop a long time.
Did they say they were trying to stop piracy? I can't imagine all the little gamer kiddies are going to be mowing yards to get $60 for each game... They'll either download it off Bittorrent/newsgroups or rent and rip the game.
When I create a work (i.e. write in my blog) it automatically is covered by full copyright law. I can't think of a simpler way to make sure I retain the controls I want but still let other people use my work in limited ways without the need to hire a lawyer.
That's not CC, that's just regular copyright. It's pretty hard to simplify copyright--everything you create is copyrighted!
The beauty of capitalism is that bad ideas usually die. The consumers dictate whether they will accept this by purchasing or not purchasing it.
Unfortunately, there is such a thing as marketers who create markets where there is none and desire where there should be none. If MS markets this correctly, people will want to give up their freedom.
I challenge you to find any real world religion well represented by fictional book, music, or video game.
Fictional books:Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. Do you consider Paradise Lost by Milton fiction? Then that too. What about Dante's Inferno? Pilgrim's Progress by Bunyan. And that's just off the top of my head--there are others.
Music: Have you ever heard of Bach, Mozart, maybe Handel? Or any of the classic hymn composers? I think simply listing Handel's massive Messiah should prove my point.
Why shouldn't he appoint someone who both sides agree upon, instead of trying to comletely silence fully half of the country?
So what you are saying is Bush should appoint a moderate who only 5% of the population agrees with. I'd rather he pick someone who about 55% of people agree with, even if I disagree with the decision.
Sure, we Americans love to complain about war deaths that save many more lives, but what about the 44,670,812 innocent children we've killed since 1973?
Worth some thought anyway.

[joke] I wonder why nothing comes up when I search for that in Google? [/joke]
Wait--real life is more humorous--the GOP is the first listing!
a lawsuit from Apple would potentially be very damaging to the companies bottom line
That's certainly one way to make the lawsuit happen...

'there's a small area near the middle of the site which is quite secure, but the bulk of our site isn't all that secure'
Whoa now! You are worried about old blurry satellite photos, when you just gave away information like that? I suspect one person is out of a job...
What do you mean, Goodbye Earthlink and Speakeasy? We live in a free market. They can still lease the lines or put in their own copper.
Now you just have to find a Microsoft product to read the future Microsoft Word XML file!

Their best game hands down was Final Fantasy III (US) / VI (Jap). I would love to see a remake of that.
Normal people don't get up in the morning and wonder how they can steal or trick someone.
What? They've obviously never bought or sold anything on eBay.
Hilarious! Perhaps when he can make his own products work in a successful way, he and Steve can talk over these issues.
He doesn't even understand the reasons Apple made this decision.
Nothing to see here, move along...

So if you sit in the middle, do you see half of both?
If our system "sucks" so much, why are there SO many successful people who went through the system?
Sometimes people come are successful in spite of things, or because it was so bad that it motivated them to educate themselves.
Also, it very much depends on your definition of successful. Sometimes, people can makes lots of money and be "successful" yet be illiterate.

So... what do I win since I met your "challenge"?

You mean there is nothing to complain about now? Wait, what about that Intel thing? They can't get off the hook that easy!
Worst. Spelling. Ever.
But at least it is consistent...
Think about it. A hungry thief would steal a pizza before a laptop. Then, when he opened it what a suprise that would be!
Of course, once he realized he didn't get no grub, he would kill you.
Sure, we Americans love to complain about war deaths that save many more lives, but what about the 44,670,812 innocent children we've killed since 1973?
Using the Segway a candidate can reach three times the people compared to simply walking.
And they can get 3x fatter as well.
So what happens when someone cracks the software with the number you bought? You suffer for innocence.
I agree this is a problem, but this seems like a bad way to handle it.
Maybe they should change their name to something decent. That would never ever stick like the "Google."
Isn't there something ironic about "killing" Windows by running Windows products? Hmm...
