Apollon has a really slick installer. Yes, installer. You download a single file, give it execute permissions, and run it. It loads a QT window, configures, compiles, and installs. Its bloody sweet.
Yes, Ive also had bad dealings with Pinnacle tuner cards.
After some research, I bought a Pinnacle card with the intention of using it on a Windows box... After about 4 hours of constantly reinstalling drivers / rebooting, I gave up. Either Pinnacle's drivers are worthless, or Windows Plug 'N Pray failed once again, Ill never be sure. All I know is, the next card I tried (AverMedai TV Studio) worked like a charm, the FIRST time.
The TVW under Linux isnt soo bad, but in Windows its a real pain. Its not a hardware problem, merely the fact that ATI's drivers suck noodles and Windows Plug 'N Pray doesnt help it any.
For the money, go out and get a AverMedia TV Studio. Its cheap, works beautifully under both Linux and Windows, has a built in FM tuner, and it even comes with a remote... (And the Windows drivers are decent, too...)
The 'Vorbis tools' o nthe Vorbis website do a good WAV > OGG conversion. Personally, I find setting 4 to be indistinguisible from the original CD.
Goldwave does a good rip, and can export to OGG. Audiograbber does a better rip, but Ive been through hell trying to get it to output to OGG. I usualy rip to WAV, edit out any pops&clicks, then convert to OGG.
All PCs do this. Its called th POST - Power On Self Test. If there is an error, and the BIOS cant initialize the video system, it beeps. Dfferent beeps mean different things, some for video, some for RAM, and other errors.

Too bad the program itself is worthless.
Its a tweaked GNOME taskbar.
Youd think so, but no. I have yet to find a registry editor which allows you to manually point to an alternate hive.

Methinks, perhaps this is an opportunity, to suggest the use of OGG Vorbis... Free, open source, worlds better than mp3, and absolutely no DRM!
Doesnt matter anyway. Only a fool buys a pre-built box.

The storys only been up a few minutes, and its already been slashdotted..
Or, better yet, "You are on the way to destruction"...
PNG = Lossless.
JPG = Extremely lossy.
Sometime after the apocalypse, which they will undoubtedly have a hand in...
You can send that damn 'Realone' back to hell, where it belongs.
Ive been saying that evry since I first saw EFC!
