The thing was that they used to run with an MS-Access database and ASP but that couldn't keep up so they moved to a linux box. They have never really changed the extensions because I guess that there html editors work better with.asp (just speculation). You can check netcraft and it shows that they are using apache though...
Everyone has been flaming this game so far, but I think it was great... It takes place at night in some gang-run city and basically you kill bad guys and recruit good guys. Sounds kinda simple (which it is) but you can talk to everyone on the street either negativly or positivly. Also if you have your gun out in public that will be trouble.
It doesn't have hardware DVD decode, unfortuneately. They call it "DVD hardware assist." What it really is is that it has hardware acceleration for windoze directdraw, which is how the DVDs are rendered.
>I'm sorry if I read your original post incorrectly; I understood it to mean that the President could fire any and all threats to his remaining in office, which is not correct.
I use a voodoo3 3000, which is great, I get 20-30 fps in Q3test with all of the fancy stuff turned on at 1024x768 resolution. TNT2 cards have open source drivers too, and their performance is supposed to be a little bit better. tnt2s or voodoo3s definately offer the best performance, and both have linux drivers.
Its a first person shooter. It looks ALOT like half life. The only thing that differs this game from other first person shooters is that there's ALOT of foul language. I personally think the gameplay kinda suck 'cause it takes like 100 machine gun hits to the head to kill one person.

Yes, the X-15 had a lot of promise. The main problem in those days was fairly simple - they didn't have the materials to make an aerodynamic vehicle that wouldn't burn up.
That was why the mercury/gemini/appollo capsules used to come down on their back-sides.
The shuttle heat-shield tiles were supposed to solve this problem. They didn't. During re-fireing, they have a nasty tendency to warp. The result of this is that they have to re-make a lot of them. This is one of the reasons why the shuttle is so damned expensive.
Here is a scary thought. I am almost scared to share this idea with the world becuase I might give someone an idea. What if everyone were assigned an IP address at birth. this would replace your Social Security Number. Just think about the horrible possiblities
Who gives a flying fick in Mercedes has a whole A class. It is not like you were going to get that or that they are runnign out of IPs. Also how do you know that they only use 1%? Maybe they have a huge network.
Also they make a GREAT car and as long as they do that I really don't care what they do with their IP addresses as long as they don't buy them all. Also, I think that it is Diamler-Chrystler now. I will assume you were talking about Diamler (not sure if I am spelling it right.)
ok. correct me if im wrong, but if a traffic light has an ip address...then that means that SOMEHOW its accessible from the outside world. would you really want someone to be able to "hack" the traffic lights in your neighborhood and play with them at their discretion??? just a thought... other than that i think its cool...
This could be pretty cool, but they could stand to do a little miniaturization on it. If I walked up to someone wearing that behemoth and started asking questions, they'd probably call a cop.
Seriously, though, getting data to and from a person in the field is damn tough, especially audio and video. These folks could be on to something. If they could just build off of Via or Xybernaut's tech, though, they might save some space. Gotta keep the Linux, though...Windows boot up time is a drag when you've got breaking news.
>If the President can fire the people who can remove him from office, do you really think we would have had a near-impeachment a few months ago?
The VP and the cabinet can remove him from office without any type of trial or hearing.
He can fire the entire cabinet. He could have fired Ken Starr. We didn't have a near-impeachment, we had an impeachment. He just wasn't convicted.
Actually Nixon DID order the people investigating him fired, a couple of times. It was two reporters who got the goods on him because they couldn't be fired by him
>The President definitely cannot suspend the Constitution. Yes, the President can declare martial law, and I suppose a really bad apple could try to take over the country by doing so.
Perhaps I was sloppy in my wording. The president can suspend constitutional rights by declaring a state of emergency, or rebellion.
I'll post the exact sections that I'm speaking of tomorrow if you'd like.
>You're referring to crimes of individuals within an organization... not the organization itself.
They have never been punished either by the BATF/Dept. Of Treasury or any DA. These abuses are routine, normal, and accepted by those in charge.
Virtually every crime is committed by individuals. The entire board of directors of a company are still individuals when they take part in criminal activity together.
Even John Dingel (a democrat by the way) called the (B)ATF a bunch of Jackbooted Facists back in the early 80's.
>They are predominatly 18-24 year olds, who just got over missing their mommies and have no desire to destroy the U.S., their home, by the way.
In the military they are trained and conditioned to obey the orders of the man with the funniest looking insignias.
If your superior officer gives you an order, you follow it. If his superior officer gave him an order, he is following it. and so on and so on all the way up to the president.
If President Clinton orders that as a part of basic training every private in the platoon must chew the same piece of bubble gum for one dan and pass it to the next wo/man it will be done. Stupid or not, that is the way it works.
Just about 3 years ago they surveyed Marines to find out if they'd be willing to fire on American citizens in the name of gun control. Why would they even ask this question?
Let us ignore for the moment that it's illegal to use the military for domestic law enforcement. Why would they want to?
The president has unlimited power for his term in office. He has the power to FIRE the people who can remove him from office via constitutional channels. He can even suspend the constitution. Understand what is possible. Then decide what is likely.
It is most likely that y2k will be just another date in history without much ballyhoo. However things that are not probable are not necessarily impossible.
Do not fool yourself. Learn the constitution and the laws.

At this precise momend in time I will be at a new years eve party with a beer in one hand,my woman in the other, and a.45 on my hip.
I too think that the major danger of y2k is the lunatic fringe who have decided that *something* big is going to happen with y2k. And if it doesn't they're going to make something happen.
I don't particularly care about the ordinary moe, but I'm making it home that night.
In a situation like that martial law may or may not be warranted but it would most likely be used. In a situation where you've got end of the world freaks and the mindless drones of the military facing off, I definately don't want to be unarmed.

I heartily second the motion for Retrospect.
I got a freebie copy with a DAT drive. It rules!
Put the tape drive on your Mac, mount everything
to be backed up on it, and Just Do It. It is Really Easy, and it works Very Well.
