this is a good point. it doesn't take too much imagination to envision some sort of extra storage being implanted into the body. when the "hard drives" become internal what happens to the rights. when the technology exists to make it possible can the FBI seize your body and extract your information (memories)? right now computers are entirely external devices but I would bet big money this won't always be teh case. Do we allows the government (or insurance, or employers) access to "internal" information under ANY circumstances?

We already have designs for massive storage in things like dna computing and quantum computing. I can buy a 70 GB drive today for about the same price as 400 mb only 5 years ago and that is just staying w/ the same old magnetic media. the assembling molecules seems alot harder than just holding the data

Good point. Add to it the fact that all your testing is done in a completely different environment (ie. NOT space). and the working environment is one of the most hostile environments we have come across. and the pressures put on the humans in terms of Gforces are enough to seriously hamper fine motor skills (like, say, running a spaceship). and.... I think you see what I am saying.
