Damn, someone already took my idea -- I was going to purchase boycottdvd.com and pay someone to maintain the site for me (having money but no time sucks sometimes!).
"When we started making money directly from the web, about 3 years ago in addition to the consulting we have been doing for more than a decade, we found a mature and complete business model in the adult web that did not exist in the mainstream."
So they've been making a ton of money and don't have $50K to put into their business? What have they been doing with the money they're making? Spending it all on girls?
There's a better way to arrange our taxes: check out FairTax.
I've given them (FairTax) quite a bit of my paycheck, because I'd like to see their ideas become reality.
The only problem is getting the politicians to agree with it.

PS I posted this as both a comment to the first post, and as a new topic, to ensure that a wider amount of people would see it: those who view only top-level articles (Threaded), and those who view in Nested mode (like me). I apologize in advance if this double-posting offends anyone. Enjoy!
Go to PriceWatch and click on "PC", then any of the PC types -- most of the systems come configured with Linux! This is happening fast. You can get a P3-450 for $538, which includes 32 MB RAM, 4.3 GB hard drive, floppy, 45x CD, on-board video, 3D sound, 56K fax/modem -- everything but the monitor.
I'm not certain how reliable these machines are, as I primarily purchase through Dell. I got burned by an iDot machine a year ago, and don't want to repeat the experience.
But I've bought a couple $400 emachines, and they've performed flawlessly.
AC: When I'm out agressive rollerblading I want to be able to listen to some kickass music and not have the player skip everytime I hit a jump a little too hard.
So let's make a CD player with a meg of memory -- that way it can read far enough ahead that you'd have to be shaking it for quite some time before you'll hear a skip. --
Anyone charging more than the market will bear will soon see the market bearing down on them. As Microsoft is now.
GIF is unimportant in the long run. Let them thrash; we'll invent better, and freer, formats.

Who needs space exploration when we can literally create worlds with our thoughts...
We will -- the sun will burn out one day and we'll need a new battery.

consumers will not stand for ANY format that utilizes copy protection.
Exactly. To back up your statement, see the difference in sales between DVD and Divx. (Circuit City is getting clobbered.)
