It seems like that type of issue is what the detection system is good at preventing/detecting. Of course, I agree once you catch the guy he may not be fireable, but at least with something like this in place he will most likely be caught earlier, preventing damage.
Most of the time, boundschecking notices programatical errors, ie bugs. We wrote a wrapper class for vector and similar that just does an assert then calls the inherited method. This completely compiles out and helps tremendously when debugging.
Well, if they did make it a movie you can be certain the special FX would be stellar. Hopefully they will remain true to the books and the genre. Maybe LOTR has opened the doors for more great fantasy and scifi to migrate to the silver screen.
After you fork out the $199 for the linux kit you can install all the old code for Indrema and start porting all the cool games to your new free software (500 dollar system)
My school (Oregon Tech) has a similar fee that we pay, but it isn't applied to innovations or research of new technologies, but rather improving the existing infastructure. Since it started we went from unwired dorms to 10Mb. Some wireless beta programs were added, and best of all we got our own T1 for student access. (previously it was just dial up in the dorms. Ten modems for 300+ people) None of these things were very impressive, (maybe even lackluster) but they helped improve campus life 100%
I don't think you're paying for the searches, but
for the actual documents returned, which are specialized research papers and etc culled from publications.
I don't really know how much it pertains to actuall AI or not, but a detector/tracer type utility for DOS attacks might be a good idea. I saw a paper pertaining to that the other day if I remember correctly.
In "Stand on Zanzibar" by David Bruner, they have a word for them, muckers:) It goes into a description of the word amok. Its just scary to see the predictions (made in this book) come true..

I can see it now, Lucy Linux as a supermodel shaped penguin, probably with a gun and cape.
Of course, she's married to Tux..
