That's absolutely priceless. Here you are, pimping sneakemail as an ideal spam-free, disposable, confidential e-mail provider...
...and then you print your e-mail address right along with it, without so much as a "REMOVEME" to stand in the way of spammers. Brilliant move, Einstein.
These "driving" metaphors are getting tiresome. Even Al Gore hasn't used the phrase "information superhighway" in years. The Internet is not a bloody freeway.
The idea of hierarchical domains is a good one, but it is obviously only geared to local businesses. How many people are going to remember "ibm.armonk.ny.us", versus "ibm.com"? Furthermore, if a company moves or establishes a new branch office, the old address is useless.
This is the right solution to the wrong problem. Many people and businesses have identical names -- look at the Yellow Pages in any sizeable city. Until you want to use, say, Tax ID's or phone numbers as URL's, there will always be conflicts. Always. Always. Always. Always. Always.
Some sites already do this. I just got a $50 Circuit City gift card for occasionally clicking on sites sent to me by MyPoints (www.mypoints.com). They give you a few points for visiting the site, some more for actually registering with or buying from a site, and then you can redeem them for Valuable Prizes (tm). If you have a spam-catcher account and a little free time, give it a try.
Sites that run Flash or streaming-whatever tend to break on things like *BSD or *linux* or BeOS or (insert your non Windows or Mac)
Let 'them' load up such crap....until 'they' support *BSD or *linux*, they won't reach the people who use such OSes.
Oh no! They're alienating upwards of 3% of the desktop market! Those bastards -- when will they learn that they're losing TENS of dollars in revenue because people on FreeBSD can't hear their audio banner ads?
To even suggest that BSD and Linux users constitute a target market for most sites out there (we're talking general interest sites -- not ones that cater to Power Users specifically) is just a fallacy.
Oh, come on. The reason why K5 isn't trolled as much as Slashdot is because it's a smaller community. People only troll when they know that enough people will read their comments, get offended, and take their bait. The community here does not tolerate troll comments, and moderates them down accordingly.
Any community that is sufficiently small and concentrated will not be affected by trolls. Look at some of the smaller Slash-like sites and mailing lists for some examples. As sites grow, like the Palm-centric Palmstation, more protective measures have to be instituted to make sure that the trolls don't overtake the site. Hell, it even happened to K5 a few months ago.
It'll be the only kind you can buy brand new. Remember how Sony re-released the PlayStation 2 in Japan without the secret code to disable DVD region locking? Same type of measure.
But it's so much fun! I met this girl online named "nypd_enforcement_unit_34" that sounded so sweet. She's 13 and she just loves older men. I can't wait to meet her.
Mandatory GPS chips? What are you talking about? Most upcoming PDA's don't have GPS chips -- some have Bluetooth, but that only allows them to communicate with similar devices nearby. Bluetooth should work the same whether your devices are in the US, Singapore, Germany, on a ship in the middle of the Pacific, or wherever else your travels take you.
I think your paranoia is directed towards cellular phones, whose calls to 911 can be rerouted based on various location-determining measures (usually based on the nearest tower). IMO this isn't a bad thing for 911, but I'd never get a cell phone if it were to constantly beam me ads for businesses as I walk by.
Junkbuster Junkbuster Junkbuster, Junkbuster Junkbuster Junkbuster Junkbuster Junkbuster Junkbuster. Junkbuster Junkbuster, Junkbuster Junkbuster Junkbuster Junkbuster Junkbuster. Junkbuster, Junkbuster Junkbuster Junkbuster Junkbuster Junkbuster, Junkbuster Junkbuster Junkbuster Junkbuster Junkbuster.

Junkbuster? Junkbuster Junkbuster. Junkbuster Junkbuster.
Not a big loss. Have you seen the women here?

IT IS 5:00 AM, AND YOUR ROBOTS ARE JUST FINE. NOW GO TO BED ALREADY.
$43.45 is a lot of money for one CD. In Pennsylvania, sales tax is 7%. That CD would cost you 46 dollars and 49.15 cents after tax!
This must be stopped.
I trust independent research labs like Advanced Prototype Packet-Layer Engineering to do my benchmarks. They do quality work.
That's what I meant. You shouldn't steal people's ideas like that.
The use of "is suck" can be traced to a poster on the newsgroup alt.aol-sucks, saying "AOL is sucks."
The Anandtech forums are about as influential as the contents of the crap you took last night.
Illegal, unethical, immoral. That's Bleem!.

Always.
Always.
I wouldn't download this plugin.
There are two kinds of people in this world: Americans, and those who wish they were.
Browsing the web with lynx is like driving down the freeway on a tricycle.

Yes. Sony has a VAIO laptop that includes a Crusoe. Check it out.
Actually, a spell checker wouldn't have helped at all. Neither of those quotes have any spelling errors.
You're telling me. That link of yours doesn't even work!

Well, yeah. What'd you expect from a company as innovative as Microsoft?
And if you hate Flash that much, you whiners can go here for more details.

Well, yeah, but none of the sites that Yahoo advertises have *quite* as much, um, "information" as I would like.
