  1. Money for war, but not science? on NASA Faces Major Budget Cuts · · Score: 2

Do you remember the 'strike' against Kosovo?
That costed a lot of money for the US (and other countries), but no one protested. And at the end of the war, the military asked for more money, and I think that they'll get it...

What about NASA? Is the solution crashing an asteroid somewhere in USA? Or waiting for one, to crash...

    Short-sightedness sucks ;((
(And we didn't even speak of the rainforests.)

I don't even dare pose the question that says: Where would be we if all military funding was redirected to science research....
Oh I know... Then probably we wouldn't have an A-bomb, and our power plants would operate by using nuclear fission.

  2. So good you asked on Ask Slashdot: Breaking the Computing Bottleneck? · · Score: 2

I think there's room for the Solid-state "drives". Which is actually memory, but in harddisk speed and size (several Gigabytes). But it should be cheaper than hard disks (sooner or later ;), and it is already faster.
Actually you can even buy Solid-state drives today, but it costs much, isn't big enough for your bucks...
Can anyone throw in a few URLs?

  3. Feeling like a fool... on Metalab Takes Down Linux Archive · · Score: 1

Now THIS is cool... I can't even tell if a news is true or fake today... After what came up so far today on Slashdot ;-)

    Feeling like a fool,
    and it's cool ;)

    Thanx, Slashdot, and everyone else.

  4. The Three Big Down... on Linus will move to Moscow to work with Elbrus · · Score: 1

Yep, the three 'big' sites are down...

    And Slashdot is up...

Just to report that the three 'big' are down ;-)

    1st of April rulez ;-)

  5. Lame gfx on The end of Pokey the Penguin · · Score: 1

Sorry, but I just can't stop laughing ;-))
The graphics are soo lame ;-) It's like if I did it (but I didn't ;-)

I didn't find any "other" humour in the strips, though...

But then again, the graphics and the stories are so amateur that they still make me laugh ;-)

  6. Replay on Linux Counter Part 2 · · Score: 1

"Yesterday we totally nuked the Linux Counter by linking it on these pages."

...Now we're doing it again ;-)

    ROTFL ;-)

  7. Back Orifice Exposes Windows Flaw on Caligula Virus Exposes PGP Flaw(?) · · Score: 1

Hey! Everyone stop using Windows NOW!

As demonstrated with BO, your passwords can be stolen, and worse things can happen!

Everyone delete your Windows! Believe us!

  8. In my dreams on Sierra recalls Game on Account of Integrity · · Score: 1

Hmmm... I wish some day I'd read a news article like:

Microsoft has recalled all copies of their Windows'98 program, and the company's presided apologized: "I want to apologize to all our loyal customers for releasing a product before it was ready," They will be offering a full refund and a free Linux to anyone who bought this program. Is this the end of the proprietary software industry as we know it?

    ;-))

  9. Agree on Lyrics.ch update: Sign the petition · · Score: 1

I agree with the petition. I have bought many music CD's in the past, and most of the time, the lyrics were NOT included... So where else could I get it than from a lyrics site like this?

Oh, and what's next? They're going to shut down libraries too? In some libraries there are some music CDs which can be borrowed like books...

And last, I think this (lyrics.ch) should qualify as 'fair use' of copyrighted material...

  10. Use the proxies! on DES III starts Today (Upgrade Those Clients!) · · Score: 1

As distributed.net's server is hosed, you'd better try a proxy...

    Like: jp-proxy.gildea.net

That goes like: rc5des -a jp-proxy.gildea.net and you're off for good! It's much faster...

  11. Secure??? or maybe 'Sponsored by NSA'? on iMac Floppies over the Net · · Score: 1

...It is the easiest solution to securely transport your files from one iMac to another Internet connected computer.

Yeah, right... It doesn't even use HTTPS...
Anyway, the operators of this site have access to lots and lots of 'sensitive' files. Maybe it's a NSA-sponsored project? ;-)
Hey, everyone, go use imacfloppy.BigBrother.gov to store all your stuff... We won't read it... Honest ;-)
