    except in most cases they are insured and they are licensed. What's driving this shit is the large cab companies having a shit fit over the fact that this startup has 1/10 the number of cars in the area yet are doing 10x the business.

    Problem for EVERYBODY is that the people who issue the licenses are the people who legislate and the people who prosecute. They all piss in the same pot, so if you get onside with the police, you're onside with the city council as well and they will lick your balls if you pay them enough in backhanders (AKA campaign contributions).

    remember the paddles at the top of the chutes? First time you hit them, they're in place and divert the ball back to the launch flippers, then they disappear so the next time the ball comes down it disappears down the chute.

    still got that thing, it's still trucking even after its third power supply and nth set of capacitors (why the fuck is it going through so many capacitors??), that titchy little fan is gone (finally burned out) so I chucked a 120mm on the back of the Shuttle XPC box it's in (had to take the hacksaw and the dremel to that to make the board fit), it's now practically silent.

    it's an old brushless shaving cream from the States, they had some whacky idea that roadside advertising (a distant ancestor of the IED) would distract drivers frm their primary purpose which is to KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE FUCKING ROAD and leave them with a hankering to spread non-foaming spoo on their faces before blade grooming.

    they'll arrest you for something else, like obstructing a police officer, obstructing a highway, ignoring a posted "no stopping" or "no loitering" sign, blocking a public thoroughfare or emergency exit... at which point they have probable cause to seize your camera for evidence and keep it for as long as they want to.

    This. Particularly if the case in hand hits the public domain, then $Joe Sixpack is out for blood. Anybody's blood. That someone stands accused is enough for the Court of Public Opinion to declare guilt and start sharpening scythes. Why aren't more police being locked up for CP? Think about that for a second, here's the answer: because they are POLICE. How about social workers? Again, Because they are SOCIAL WORKERS. They like the police, have been entrusted with the safety of the public (laughably), therefore they are above reproach. Until some bad apple gets *caught*. They're the stupid ones, the smart ones haven't been caught. Kids are still suffering. Think of the children. Lock up a cop.
