    Democrats are hardly conservative. I wouldn't call forcing people to stick with social security, instead of being able to invest privately, conservative... There are a quite a few differences between Republicans and Democrats. Democrats are much more willing to trade freedom for security. Personally, I hate both parties. The Libertarian promotes personal responsiblity and less government intervention. That's what I want. I shouldn't have to pay for some crack whore's food, because she has a bunch of illegitimate children. I'm not saying people shouldn't get help, but welfare promotes dependence upon the government. Anyways, off topic.

    Why exactly shouldn't they keep it proprietary? Who pays for the server? Who pays for the bandwidth? Not Microsoft. AOL gets money from ads, so why should they let Microsoft come along and make people use their client instead of AOL's so Microsoft can get revenue when they don't have to maintain the servers? kcin

    What exactly makes Java so bad? It's a nice Language, compared with C++ which is bloated. If you're talking about it being slow, it's not the language. It's the current implementations.
