    We need more toys like this, The idea of having a toy you can play with not just physically, but via software, you design it on software, you build it physically, you program it via software. This is great, LEGO not just for kids!

    I find the smartest people on the net on slashdot, but sometimes, I likewise find the dumbest folks. Dumb folks! You cannot freaking brute force this problem! you are not trying to prove for a certain range of numbers, but for infinite numbers, this is a case where computers can never beat mathematics, with one proff you can solve an for an infinite numbers, whereas with your computer, you will run it forever and yet can only be certain for those numbers you tested... blah blah blah.

    ... But you don't breadboard a CPU my friend. Have you ever heard of FPGAs? Go read about it. You can get one for as cheap as $200. I know someone that got one, designed his own 32bit RISC CPU with it, and built a motherboard on it, ported netbsd on it, and this was like 2 years ago. His cpu was clocking around 40mhz. Remember 2 years ago. Go read about FPGA.

    They have it wrong, their move is to show support for free software community, not open source! I am not whining either, I am happy they did so, free software is good, making it open source doesn't matter that much to me, it is a well engineered piece of software, and only very few people understand about compiler theory and would know where to start anyway.

    What lies!!! How absurd!!! This can be done with any OS, DDOS has nothing to do with OS, think of B2k, what if B2k has been motifed to lauch a dos attack, and an attacked use 1000 of time from one central location, that is plaain DDOS, what about the kiddos running 50 warbots on IRC utilzing B2k and netbus crap?!!! That is DDOS with windows. If Microsoft is spreading such lies about Solaris and Linux, it then is very obvious that these are the two OS that they see as threats to their server OS. I am surprised that they didn't put the BSD's there, I guess the BSDs are absolutely no threat.

    I am serious too. When I read other postings for interview questions, I see lots of important questions, ranking high and what not. The highest post that I have seen so far is only 3 in your case, yet there are more than 250 questions already. Of these, 99% are telling you of how bad a person you, of how you suck, and what not. Since slashdot is a community thingy, do you think it will be in the best interest of the slashdot community if you quit? If you decide to stay, will you make any effort to improve yourself and your relationship with the community? Prior to slashdot have you been such a controversial person? Do you always get into arguments and such? Do you feel happy, sad or indifferent regarding how you are viewed upon in this community?

    This is no new news, I have tried this long time ago, I don't consider it a vulnerablity on HTML, it is because developers develop bad code, developers should develop code to protect against this, it is just like the PERL problem with system() where someone can supply input with "; command" and so on, that is not a PERL security problem, it is the responsibility of programmers to develop secure code.

    Is this really good? "Of course", you yell. Anything open source must be good, people can work on it, and improve it and blah blah blah. Look at Mozilla, how much has it improved? How many people actually put work in it? If altavista had been open sourced a long time ago, would google have existed? Would the google guys have thought about coming up with new ideas, or would they have just blindly worked on simply improving the original source? ...

    The extra money is also going towards development of drivers. When dell starts supporting linux on laptops, they can't just expect hardware support to be added by the Linux community before they start supporting it. This means that they will have to hire some developers, to work on drivers for example for their freaking nice complicated video cards. I have a Dell, my only way to have X on it, is to buy a commerical X server, because it is not yet supported. I think alot of those people whining should shut duh hell up, The problem was that Dell was not supporting linux before on their laptops, now they support it, and you start whining? A lot of you have no idea how important this is, there are lots of companies that look up to Dell, if Dell is supporting linux on their laptop, more companies are bound to pick this up.

    Does it matter if she succedds with sucking some shiny $$ out of them? As far as I am concerned, she is on our side, we are on the same team. If she spends money/energy/time and wins $$$, kudos to her. To be frank and honest, if we will speak via actions, all these big guys will back down, imagine if 500 different people sued these guys? Do you think they will have to fight 500 differnet people? that will require that they win all of the 500 cases. I think they will wake up. Is 500 a lot from the large community of technology intellects? I think not, but again, 500 is a lot when you talk about those willing to take actions instead of sit on their butts and type away on discussion forums.

    I don't know much about patenting, but I don't think that mere publishing is suffient enough to make something prior art. If you publish a technology, it is only theortical, now, if no pratical product is designed around this, and someone designs a product before you, and patents it. I think the person will win, and you will lose, although you published it. claiming a right to technology by publishing theoritcal work doesn't sound good to me. Or else, Someone is going to go into the business of patenting anything that could possible work, even if I have no idea how to create that. ...when someone finally puts in time in the lab and comes up with something, they will be sued.

    I smell lots of $$$. How? First of all, it took these guys age to figure out that they had to edit /etc/issue to make their red hat box say linuxone whatever. I could have cashed in on this, by telling them how, and having them pay me. As everyone knows, their webserver still says redhat, we can cash in on this too. Hey, how about we modify apache for you to say linux one for only $500. They kludged the ftp server to give message that the server is full. But it is obvious, heh, we can hack your ftp fake message to appear more authentic for only $5000. These guys are porting windows programs to linux and stuff, they said so. In order to do this, they need developers, Heh, why don't we code for them. I will port notepad.exe and calc.exe, I will leave clock.exe and paintbrush.exe for you. This is money making opportunity people!
