I'm famous for horrible analogies. But this concept of measuring marriage with math is as silly as expressing pi as digits in a string and saying, "That's pi right there". Bringing down the subject (either marriage or pi) into items that can be measured, only creates argument, and dissolves the original concept.
I think you worded that all much better than I could have, so I'll use what you said to further my point (or seem like a total retard):
Marriage is by definition a single, unique event. You can't claim that marriage isn't an event, essentially. It has an infinitely long subjective structure in a system that uses people's intentions, but that's just a representation of an event. Don't conflate the event with its representation, or you'll end up with heated nonsensical discussions about whether people should get married or not.
Your marriage will "succeed" or "fail" based on why you're getting married, period. Things come up during any relationship, but reasoning keeps things going. Look at business relationships. Look at the cultures where they have arranged marriages. The thing is, when one side tries to make it work for the sake of the relationship itself, then the other side feels this and also tries. When both sides are trying, then success. Eventually true love develops out of the pure sacredness of the effort from the other side toward your side. Each side sees personal sacrifice and feels in debt.
There is no mathematical formula for this, for the same reason that pi cannot be pinned down to a certain number.
No, but you might get sued by some of the other concern trolls [youtube.com] for infringing on their conspiracy theories.
Not sure where you're going with this. Pointing out conspiracy theories as being a theory alone, seems to go against the grain of what has been discovered from the snowden leaks. Are you saying that there is no conspiracy; that the NSA is a one-man show?
Seriously, as another poster pointed out, it's because a massive dump will be ignored by the media, as WikiLeaks found out years ago. Any more Concerns?
Well, not that there are more concerns, but the concern that I'm talking about seems to be a moot point, I guess. But that point is that the order in which the info is being released. We were first told that the NSA is looking at all of the data on the internet. Snowden was reporting that there is still a good way to keep "clean" on the internet, and that it's to use VPN tunnels. Then later, we learn that the NSA has backdoors in router hardware, circumventing any encryption anyway. It's information that, to me, seems to be contradicting itself in the overall scheme of things. This makes me think that perhaps Snowden did find something that needs to be addressed, and released it, but that maybe the news media has been compromised by some secret government agency (gag order?), or whatever, and releases it's own version of "the snowden leaks", in order to take advantage of our fear. I'm just not one that takes any of the snowden leaks seriously anymore.
Right, but power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. You can fire the people, have people set up to take their positions, but due to the actual need for the NSA to some extent, and the need for them to have some of the powers that they do have, will always provide a way for whoever takes over to become corrupt by the same mechanics that corrupted the original folks.
The problem is in the people, not the NSA. Looking at it this way, you can compare having the NSA to having nuclear weaponry. We need it (in the current configuration of the human mindset), but the world would be so much better if we didn't.
I'm not defending the NSA, or it's tactics, but to think that by replacing the people that run the NSA, or the people that press the button to launch the nukes, is going to fix the actual problem, then you need to think over things.
universe? umm... no. If they choose to look at it that way, then why not look at slashdot in that way? letters/words/ideas... all blocks, placed by people, edited by others, leaving dust...
Am I the only one that is still wondering why these "snowden leaks" are still coming out in the way that they are? I mean, are we all going to be sitting around 30 years from now, still hearing about these leaks?
The year is 2045: Snowden leaks - The NSA has been watching all of you guys' teleport activity since the early 1980's! They used physical hardware hacks that you could have never known about... and they're doing it to foreign countries too!
Seriously, it all seems like the information that we're getting is being spooled in a prefabricated way, as to serve the fear propaganda more so than it should. I'm just waiting for the "NSA actually created the universe" leak.
ha, I think that anyone that has to resort to "online bullying" is already to big of a pussy to do anything for real. And anyone like that probably came from pussies, has pussies for siblings, and only hangs out with pussies.
Point is, if you're a pussy (and you can know that you're a pussy if you're hiding behind country boundaries or the internet) don't fuck with someone that's willing to gut you, for real.
I know nothing of processing, at least at this level. You often post good stuff here. Can you explain why computer processors cannot do the functions in the same way that calculators do? Maybe I'm asking the question in the wrong way, but you know what I mean (I hope).
No. I couldn't find it on youtube, and the one that I did find wasn't the same type of box as in the documentary that I originally remember seeing. The only difference between the one in the video that I posted and the one that I originally saw, was that the mirror was at a 45 degree angle, so that you wouldn't have to look at it from the side.
I looked so much that now I think that maybe I'm remembering it wrong. All the same, it'd be better if it were at a 45 degree angle, so that you could simply look straight down at it. The documentary that I remember seeing had multiple brain issues, all with people with odd brain injuries and problems that they had to deal with after whatever accident or stroke they endured. One lady could only replicates in a half. I mean to say that she had a stroke and after that, if you showed her a picture of a flower, and asked her to draw it, she'd only draw half of it, and see it as complete. There was another guy that had been in a car accident and he was forever with the feeling that everyone that he was with, regardless who they were, he felt that they were an imposter - unless he was speaking to them on the phone. DAMN IT! Surely someone remembers this documentary, it's freggin killing me now.
You don't have to wait for the cops to act. All you have to do is report it to the cops (you'll need some physical proof that they're threatening you - email, voice mail, letter, something - and you'll need to convince the police that you're scared for your life), have them write up a statement, and go home. The next time you see the fucker that threatened you, kill them anyway you wish. Hell, you can even stalk them if you want. Then when the shit hits the fan, you've got your ass covered enough to tell them, "It was in self defense, they came at me first."
Yeah, that's exactly what they say happens. I don't know from experience, but I did see a really good documentary on a doctor that discovered that by simply tricking the brain, causing the phantom pain to go away. The patient that he was working with lost their hand and about 3/4 of the arm to the elbow. The patient reported that it felt as if his hand was squeezing harder and harder (as you point out, 'turning up the gain' and experience more 'noise'). So the doctor decided to try out setting up a mirror-box whereby the patient put his good arm and hand in, looked at the mirror, and would see what appeared to be his other hand (reflection) and by simply opening his other hand, the mind was tricked into seeing the missing hand as opening, causing the pain to stop completely immediately. The patient had to do this every now and then, to continue pain relief. But what an insightful doctor!
one that produces virii, one that "protects" from them.
I thought that they worked hard to create a virus that slipped through their $competitors, but would get caught by $their_own. Isn't that why things work the way they do in the antivirus field? Why else would one antivirus package already detect a virus that all the others don't yet?
I'm with you on this. I didn't understand why it's news worthy either. I came here to look at comments and hopefully learn something. Nada. This is strictly, as you said, building management. But hey, NASA has to get money from somewhere.
But still better than, yet another, "You're loosing more rights" article.
"The System" is broken and yet The People are left to rely on either "The System" to straighten out the government, or The People to straighten out the government. Not sure how many Americans are even able to follow car-line rules at their local elementary school, much less straighten out the government. The government is capable of all acting as one, and The People aren't.
No, the government wants it's power because The People don't want theirs. When an exiting president gives a speech indicating troubles ahead, and no one gives a shit, the government knows what to do next, The People don't. And it's soo to late for anything to change, because at this point, it would mean that the people want their cake and eat it too.
From the sounds of it... he's making some pretty deluded statements about his life, passing them off as if they're true, and then selling it to people who are making it into TV which says 'based on a true story'.
Perfect answer. I didn't know that the show was 'based on a true story', but then again, I don't watch tv at all.
Interestingly enough, yesterday I was lost in YouTube and ended up looking at some clips that had to do with folks going around telling others that they were Navy SEALs, and how some real Navy SEALs would give them hella shit about it. I wonder if any of this guy's BS had gained the attention of anyone that could debunk it. I guess not.
I smoke pot often with multiple millionaire clients that I have. Each owns the company that I do work for. Each built that company from the ground up. As the article points out (that Carl said) smoking marijuana (and doing other drugs) can open our minds to things that ordinarily wouldn't be accessible.
There are simply to many variables to get results that you feel comfortable believing. But what you could do is create a file that's 10M and send it and receive it from a friend (or multiple friends) connection that is using the same bandwidth speeds and a different ISP. Even this has lots of holes in it, but at least you can get some peace of mind. In my mind, there is no true valid test, unless you have complete control over all hardware between you and the end, which not many can have.
Another way to get peace of mind is to just use all of the sites that measure bandwidth. If they all report basically the same thing, then take it as fact.
Well I never said that they don't exist. Point is that there is no way to physically bind the corporation in a prison cell so that it can both think about it's actions, and be prevented from doing those actions again (at least while in prison).

Well, as the knee-capping proves, pay-back is a bitch. Might as well just finish off the chump(s). That way you don't have to live in fear anymore.

I don't understand why it'd matter. Just look at him as the writer of the series.

I don't know why you keep asking everyone to dance for you here, man. Go look up Enron.
That comment would have been hilarious had it come from AC.
I like how this conversation went from "Maybe we can't live outside the magnetic field of Earth" to "Let's bring a lot of drilling equipment too!"
