Crowd-source fact checking. Like!, Share!, True!, and Untrue! buttons. Remember the "CITATION NEEDED" button? Put a truth rating right next to how many likes, and shares each story gets. Put the onus on the user, then those believing such far fetched stories have nobody to blame but themselves. Anything less is not enough, and anything more is censorship with big (I'll tell you, I mean 'UGE) abuse potential.
As a bonus, this teaches the masses critical thinking, and how to debunk garbage (and discover truth) all by themselves!
How about people stop being fucking morons and look a little closer at "the news". We used to absolutely LOVE disgracing our media when they spread bad info. Now we have opinion news, click-bait, and citizen journalists.
You won't believe how Batboy's all grown up love affair with Janet Jackson ended.... Orange clown runs for office and has THIS to say...... See HRC's hot new underwear...
Pointing out bad stories on social media gets you involved in whatever TOXIC topic it relates to, earns you name-calling, and general ass-hole-ry on response for all your "friends" to see. Those of us that know better just left. People really seem enjoy the dumb-shit-echo-chamber we left behind. (the irony of post right?)
And now what, we are somehow surprised or something? This is exactly what we wanted. It's not on fb to censor bad news, its on us to not be fucking morons.
What sort of encoder did you go with on your arcade stick?
I have a leftover ipac from an arcade build and had considered doing an upright with it, but am not sure if it will jive with the pi and I understand hacking a keyboard makes ghosting issues.
I found input lag on the old pi b+ unacceptable. Its much better on the 2, and seems to be completely absent when running the pi 3 and the latest Retro-pi.
I set them all up with the X-Box 360 wireless adapter. It works "out of the box" and with the exception of one person, the people I've given them to all already have wireless X-Box 360 controllers around the house so I didn't have to buy them.
I've been building and giving away Retro-pi boxes for a few months now. I guess now those normal people not fortunate enough to collect nerd favors only get 30 games and are locked to the NES controller.
You space nutters need to stop "dreaming" and start joining us here on Earth. The fact is YOU AREN'T GOING ANYWHERE. We evolved to live on Earth. We cannot live anywhere else for long periods of time. This is simple biology.
While I understand where you are coming from, absolute statements that open with "The fact is" always remind me of the following quote.
'If I am the wisest man, it is because I alone know that I know nothing. The implication was that I was very foolish because I was under the impression I knew a great deal." -- Socrates
The fact is the facts keep changing. What is true about our compatibility with space exploration and colonization as a species today may not be true tomorrow. You may consider "space nutters" a little silly, but one of the greatest motivators for me (as a happily dreaming nutter), is the knowledge that, considering the vastness of space, we just don't know what we don't know.
Local government can barely patrol in automobiles without fucking up their gear. Federal government can't even properly deploy a website. We see our overseers ass up project after project, while ever eyeing more expensive projects and tech.
This will be a colossal fuck up. Politicians and police are expecting turnkey aircraft. That just aint how its going to go. Aircraft in general is pretty onerous to maintain, autonomous stuff even more-so. Shit goes wrong all the time. I bet they wind up keeping a ton of overpriced plastic shapes on hand as replacement parts, and I bet they will be to afraid of breaking it to even change a prop.
You're not ready to fly after a 10 minute power-point presentation, but you can bet your freedoms that's how they will try to roll. Good thing our police departments are known for such intelligent staff.....
Imagine the circus when the first drone is caught on camera tazing some dunk and disorderly college kid? Or the video of the one crashing into the historic monument? Or the inevitable hacking?
Since when is artificial intelligence ready to audit organic emotional intelligence? AI cant even have a believable conversation at the 3rd grade level.
I suppose its ready to audit on the Microsoft racist troll scale, which is in the spirit of this election season, so there is that.
It doesn't matter what kind of views they are. Censorship is the enemy of democracy. You may not like some views, you may disagree with some outlooks, and sometimes people are going to say things you find repugnant and disgraceful. As citizens of this democracy, its our duty to discuss the hard questions in an open and thoughtful manner. Its my personal belief that suppressing speech of any kind is wrong, even if hateful or painful to hear. We suffer white supremacy and BLM to blast their opposing versions of what is right and wrong with the world, but as soon as religion get involved everybody forgets how to adult and dials the logic back to middle ages.
Everything about this years presidential race has been a disgrace to our county, and will weigh heavily on *my* national pride for years to come.
With that said, its also completely OK for the Facebook monster to remove, censor and/or modify any content on their network. I don't like it, but its their network. Consider not getting your national news from a biased and baseless social media source and move the hell on. Come on people, Facebook has ZERO credibility as a news source to begin with. Is anybody really surprised?
Does SF have a sewer system? Old subway tunnels? Underground ANYTHING?
Makes the resident yuppies happy, they don't have to see their greed personified Makes homeless happy, They don't have to sneak onto rooftops to sleep. Makes police happy, homeless have "moved on", as they say. Out of sight out of mind.
Why is this not a thing? Its no less in-humane than say.... not allowing humans to live in piece on account of the rich finding them...distasteful.
Demolition man.
Rent free living with a catch. No grid, no emergency services or "safety" inspections/regulations. You receive nothing publicly funded and if you fuck up the infrastructure you get cops in riot gear with rubber bullets. Drug your heart out, and/or rape and pillage each other all you want, just do it underground so the money machine can not feel guilty about fucking you over. Seems like a perfect solution to me.
Lets try it. What have we got to lose?
In a rich locale such as SF, surely we can eek out someplace underground thats not being used anymore with clear no bullshit rules that are strictly enforced. It does not have to be nice. Cold, dark, wet... better than nothing.
It's almost as if the entire social media ecosystem is designed to gather up data relating to your behaviors, decision making, and skillset into a neat little package for the highest bidder. Say it aint so!
Its curious how every time a revelation like this surfaces, the masses act all slighted and surprised. Why else would facebook insist on you using your real full name? Is there ANY other legitimate reason? If it was just advertising as they claim, my name could easily be CONSUMER42234564.
Has anybody else noticed how far these services have wormed their way into our various social systems? From our senators live tweeting while in session to FB running the second presidential debate by proxy, does the scope of the surveillance really surprise ANYBODY anymore?
The only way to win is not to play, but the breadth of the social media reach is making that next to impossible.....
I was recently pulled over for a minor traffic infraction. The very first thing the officer did was say something along the lines of "you are being audio and video recorded" The camera was about the size of a dixie-cup, centered on his chest, and was of a flat black color. VERY hard to miss. There was absolutely no chance of me not understanding what was going on. After my warning (which had nothing to do with my skin color and everything to do with my professorial and respectful attitude) I began to wonder, what would happen if I told him I did NOT understand that I was being recorded, or had I made it known that I did NOT consent to the audio-video recording of our interaction. Likely I would have gotten a tough shit comment and ticket, but its interesting to consider....
My point is, it is very hard to miss the cameras. They are quite obvious, and at least the local LEO in Auburn, WA are making citizens aware of their use as the first order of business. YMMV.

Give it a few months.... Change was just voted into office.
I think Google is required to remove things from the Internet if you ask them.
I think you're on the wrong website dude.

Is this REALLY not obvious?
Trump won because he got more electoral votes than the other guys. Stop pointing fingers media, you're not doing yourself any favors.

What controllers did you end up going with?
I set them all up with the X-Box 360 wireless adapter. It works "out of the box" and with the exception of one person, the people I've given them to all already have wireless X-Box 360 controllers around the house so I didn't have to buy them.

Is a neat step in the right direction? A giant leap in the wrong direction? A skillful act of misdirection while we circle-jerk our big election?
Whats wrong with Sourceforge George? Whats wrong with the GitHub, Bub? Ready for a hack jack?
Spinup another web-server, upload all the code, NSA and Kremlin notice, now its just a node.
It sends attacks across the sea, and at you and me,
Now stock-up on that food and water, prepare for world war III.
....Study finds.
