    The best thing that ever happened to me. Motor flying gets boring (and expensive in NL), gliding remains a challenge.

    I don't know who modded you insightful, but you are not. You state the obvious.

    Amd would really like to have what you describe, but they don't. I/O will only limp behind processing speed, as it has been since the 486. In the mean time, those cycles can be used for other things, such as datacompression of the data that goes to memory.

    However, latency is what is killing in the end, not the data transferrates. That is what we have cache for, but it doesn't yet have 100% hitrates yet. The fun comes when there is more processor silicon to burn, than there is memory to utilize it. No, we are not there yet.

    This is exactly why I don't sign my messages. There is no way that I can guarantee that my messages aren't faked. If one is faked, chances are that my PGP key is taken too.

    If you live in the USA, what to worry about? 110V hurts, but it is hardly lethal. I've had this voltage on my computer casing (it wasn't grounded). 220V does really hurt though.

    FWIW, tv repair guys rarely die of a high voltage shock itself. They die because they slam into something else.

    And in this protocol, you only get bandwidth if the receiving end says it is ok to get it? Sending extra layer 7 information for the company router (with different encryption) does not sound impossible.

    Communication errors are in abundance and syntactic ones are only a minor reason for misunderstanding. Just like in programming.

    People are often not busy with being right or wrong. First they need to feel secure before they can learn new things. Weird but true. If you say that they should use linux, you essentially say they've been wrong big time == insecure feeling.

    It is their insecurity that hits you.

    First there is progress. Then there can be misery.

    When you encounter new things, learn, it is fun. At some point there must be a switch that can be turned to "danger". The earlier this is recognized, the more can be done against this. This process, stepping out of your function and resisting the thing that you are hired to do, is very straining. Sometimes only difficult, other times against company culture. Maybe there should be a role play about whistleblowing ??

    Ethics is not only about thinking/subjects. It is also about having you _OWN_ opinion. I think this is a bigger problem than finding subjects.

    And you win the battle against this person. You will lose the war though. No, I'm not talking about the Iraq war, the US will win that one. I'm talking about the cold war of the US vs the rest of the world.

    Why didn't the US save 3000 persons in Africa "as revenge against violence"... That would be "turning the other cheek". It wouldn't mean that directly involved people can't be prosecuted but otherwise? The US just promotes violence at the moment. You might not think about it that way, but we do.

    Questionable? I never ever use telnet these days, for good reasons. Secondly, certain accounts I have only accept my home IP number... for security reasons.

    I don't care about the abuse. It is dual use... I do it every day for the right reasons... I would say this is necessary for me.

    the funny thing with CC\bank is that they have strict laws to obide to(at least in the NL). Programs are not yet under such laws.
