  5. old, and lame on Sega Giving Stock To Stop ISO Pirates? · · Score: 1

first off, this is old news. sept 2. which is ages ago in the scene. secondly, this is from kalisto, a group who is second to no one for fake nfos and groups. not even the famed trdog nfos come close. eg the whole nbc thing, kalistos "break" from the scene (which lasted 16 hours, and coincidentally ended when they released the first cracked dreamcast release)

its a load of crap. and doesnt matter for shit now that echelon is in full force, which may or may not be kalisto in disguise. who gives a damn. let nbc be the shit division, echelon the elite, and the other no name groups fill in the blanks every so often.

point is, this isnt newsworthy at all. maybe if this was slashdot, news from the scene, stuff that doesnt matter, itd be a big deal. but it isnt.

eg on my p450 (tnt1 card) downstairs, windows media player can run mpeg1 fullscreen perfectly, bilinear filtering, etc. on my linux celeron 533 (tnt2 ultra card) upstairs, gtv gives atrocious quality with the vcd (mpeg1) standard, and god forbid should i try to doublesize it.

ill be waiting mainsoft, or for some other linux developer to deliver a well done implementation of what is to me an essential program.

    a) friends have looked at me funny because ive acquired albums 3 weeks before release
    b) friends have looked at me funny because ive ripped albums 3 weeks before release
    c) friends have looked at me funny because ive bought albums the day of release

  15. Re:The students need a kick in the pants too on How can we Keep Our Teachers Updated? · · Score: 1

i beg to differ on that point. i am a high school student, who is currently taking ap calculus in my gr 11 year. i finished off math 30 with a 97 last year. im also failing bio 20AP.

why? the teachers. plain and simple. my math teacher is one of the most amazing people i have ever met, a person who can make it geniunely interesting. he's amazingly bright, and gets your respect not through screaming or discipline but by raw knowledge and application thereof. i remember the first day of gr 10, walking into the math class, and having him factor 5th degree polynomials in his head in about 5 seconds. he would literally look at it and start writing it down... blew me away at the time. he gained my respect, and i worked like a dog.

the bio teacher, however, is not quite as excellent. i talk too much, goof around, and chase skirts if you will. why? because she has demonstrated a lack of knowledge or a lack of will to communicate that knowledge. i think i'll be lucky to pass this year, to be honest.

motto of the story. if you can get the respect of the student, you'll get the work of that student. if you show a condescending attitude toward students, and wonder why you should even bother, get out of the classroom. i want teachers that love to teach. i dont want people who wonder why they're teaching these oafs when they coulda shoulda but been in research, say.

anyhoo, thats my little tale. its simple, great teachers make great students.
