oh please. you started off well enough, but ruined it as soon as you mentioned bbspot and satirewire, which are nothing more that slightly more tech-oriented onion ripoffs.
they all tend to mention the absurdities inherent in everyday life by exposing them in newspaper headlines, typically the straightest straight man one could get. its fairly easy to generate onion style headlines ("for the first time in history, its raining men. all are killed.") but the knack lies in finding the best ones that are the most appealing to people. "judge orders nuclear strike on napster?" LOL! ROTFL! or something like that...
the onion is consistently funny, day in and day out. bbspot and satirewire are one step away from headlines like "vi proved to be better than emacs" and stories that begin with "and one time, when i was at band camp..."
there's a reason you dont see geek oriented humour on television. why? because 90% of the time it isnt funny, and the other 10% rely on you knowing memory timings and how CERTAIN MOTHERBOARDS DONT SUPPORT THEM! abusurdities of absurdities! LOLROTFLMAOLOL!
the technology, hardware, everything is there. the networks simply dont care. maybe they'll encrypt the last episode of seinfeld or something, but for the vast majority of shows, it doesnt really matter. think about it, are you going to lose a paying customer? not everyone has access to these, if anything itll create more buzz about a huge upcoming episode.
no, not on every gd... only some dreamcast games use windows ce. soul calibur for example uses the katana devkit, which is 100% sega libraries and no wince code anywhere at all.
this is in danger of degenerating into the pit of wallowing self pity that was hellmouth.
first off. the suspension was not a direct cause of the suicide... if the kid takes time to write a note, its not a spur of the moment thing. might have been the straw that broke the back, but no more. suggestions of mail bombing the district are ludicrous.
secondly. was this an "out"? its common for people in high stress high risk occupations (and you geeks out there know what i mean... gotta keep that 96% or else you are fucked...) to look for an out. ever played sick on the day of a big test? ever slowed down enough to not make a final so you wouldnt have to face the crowd? sometimes failure while not trying is better than the hideous prospect of trying your hardest and still failing.
ever had a father who wondered just where the plus was on the A when you brought the report card home? have you ever been good at everything, and never tried something new for fear of it being the one thing you cannot do?
the main problem being that very few children are taken seriously when they appear to be stressed out of their ever-loving tiny minds. jimmy? stressed? hah, if i only i had his easy life as mom shuffles reports brought home from work. he's only a kid. its just a phase.
i presume this is because of movement between the 3 images being taken... so the water (rapidly moving i assume) is in different positions between the exposures.
anyone else see the brutal error in the god-damned title? "China internet cafe debate hots up"
hots up? this isnt a cult flash animation here. this is the bbc, and i have a hard time believing that thats an error that just slipped by. please let this be a clever trick of language that went over my head.
look at the images again. in both of them there is a shot of them in profile, facing to our left.
the blue hat guy has shorter sideburns, and less of a beard. the red hat guy has longer sideburns and a larger beard (i wouldnt really call it a beard, but hey)
so unless the single robber shaved in the closet, im a bit leery to call them one and the same
alright, suppose im a 12 year warez kiddie, and i download a copy of lightwave, 3dsmax, and cubase. its worth a few thousand dollars on the open market, easily. i then play with them for a while.
now, tell me how much said 12 year old warez kiddie has cost (himself) the corporations who sell those pieces of software. lost sales? come on guys...
there was a study done by a highschool teacher (and a movie made out of it im pretty sure... memory is hazy due to this being told in social class during discussion of nazi germany) who basically started a cult to teach the kids just how easy a leader can create followers. called it the wave. is it just me, or is this too much of an amazing coincidence to be real?
the only problems with simple solutions are simple ones. unfortunately, drunk driving is far from this. as long as people believe it wont happen to them, and have (at the time misplaced) confidence in themselves, its not going away anytime soon.
actually, my infatuation with blowing shit up in grade 7/8 led to me reading college chem texts i took out of the library (of course, i went straight to redox first) and subsequently being able to sleep through chem for the rest of my scholastic career. so dont knock blowing shit up:)
except for the
----spoiler----
GODDAMN KID POINTING THE GUN AT HIS DAD! what the sweet fuck was that? a completely preposterous scene, and its completely disjointed to the rest of the movie. no foreshadowing up to it, and no consequences after. i know if my kid pointed a gun at me id be forced to freak out.
But my 1972 study was entirely negative. After considering their sources and their details in the hindsight of subsequent space activities. I concluded that all such stories dealing with alleged flight fatalities were baseless.
Yeah, except for the, um, fact that he says it's an open relay himself. Did you even read the article?
it would not be unresonable that a 50 digit prime could be factored in a few hours on a machine with suffecient memory.
I can factor 50 digit primes in my head...
Hrm, might wanna rethink that a scramjet would work best in a vacuum, or else you may have your wonderful payload splattered all over the ground.
Then again, if you consider LOTR sci-fi, perhaps no literature critic can save you.
you fool, dod was huge. learn your roots.
i had a wooden railroad kit. brio. the stuff fucking rocked, and looking back the pure amount of stuff i had must have cost my parents a fortune.
so many toys, looking back, were a vital part of me growing up.

anyhoo.
im with you there... when parts start magically appearing when it comes competition time, you have to wonder if something is up.
dunno what arcade you're going to man, but speaking as a teen, ddr is freakishly popular and no one really cares about ms pac man anymore...
it just aggravates me when people claim the only good games are the old ones, and good graphics mean its a polished turd, to speak.
pretty well, the only problem is the bouncing cards at the end fly by WAY too fast.
there are 2 types of wildfeeds
encrypted
and not encrypted
