Have a look at DigitalStrom http://www.digitalstrom.de/index.php?id=115&L=2 (in English) At ETH Zürich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) they developed a microcontroller that can be directly attached to 220/110V power lines. At first they will put the chip into insulating screw joints but they are also talking to makers of household appliances to incorporate them directly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viXnOxeX6Uk
They will publish the management software as GPL
I believe that they have a very good chance to take off in the market.
If you compare (early) midevel English and Germany texts side by side it is clearly visible that Germany and English are nothing but two dialects of the same language. Maybe it was comparable to today somebody coming from Texas speaking to somebody coming from NY or someone from Hamburg talking to someonefrom Munich.
My prescription is not as bad (-6.5/-8.5), but besides that, I am entirely with you. I've been thinking about doing this for over 4 years and on the 30th of this month I'll have my examination at the University Eye Clinic in Mannheim, Germany and hope to be able to get the procedure done in December. (I have to wait so that all my hay fever symptoms have time to go away.). The Professor who is doing the examination and who would be doing the procedure is known to send people away that he doesn't consider "good" canidates for LASIK, so I hope to get a realistic evaluation from him what to expect, or what he considers to be a better procedure for me, if any.
Just have a look at what is happening right now with KpnQwest in Europe. The banks tried to queeze money out of interested companies that wanted to buy it, until nobody was left..........
If they don't screw that up as well, they might be able to at least keep some national parts running in Germany, Switzerland and I think, Sweden by selling them of. But the rest ?
The NFSv4 for SUN and Linux is done in parallel. SUN is sponsoring the Linux development. Hopefully there shouldn't be much of a time difference between the release of NFSv4 for Solaris and Linux.

The real first netbook was the Atari Portfolio from 1989....
8088 based and running DOS.

No, I was really more thinking in terms
of different pronunciation of the same words.
Actually you are not that far from the truth...

Well, it is the price they have to pay.......

I wouldn't be so sure about this.
