I'm a mac fan, but I have to say that apple screwed the pooch with mavericks on this one. for the stock apple programs they got rid of the save button entirely and now everything auto saves. This is ok, but the really bad part is they got rid of save as - you know, you make some changes but decide you want to keep the original so you make this file v2 or whatever? Even worse, bowing to pressure they added back in the save as, but accessible as a secondary choice with option-click.

the whole thing is just weird and to tell you the truth it made me stop using the apple programs so I never got used to it or fully figured it out.

Personal stuff too. emails, bank records. Email accounts of your family, friends, and friends of friends (3 hops)! And unlike most NSA snooping which seems to be captured for the glee of capturing, your stuff is probably pretty closely monitored.

DO NOT TRACK means exactly what it says. don't track my movements, don't put me in a huge database, don't intrude on my life and spy on my behavior. It should be the functional equivalent of surfing in "incognito" mode.

goog tried to subvert this into "do not serve targeted ads" which basically means they'll still track you.

I'm glad you worked really well from the political propaganda playbook that redefined words to mean the opposite. You're the most recent in a proud line from Stalin to Pailn.

actually, mcveigh is a terrorist mass murderer, but stack and heemeyer are fellow kooks and crazies. neither of them killed anybody. stack stole a tank from a military base in san diego and led police on a low-speed chase and crunched several parked cars (no ammunition in the tank). heermeyer had a crazy grudge with the city where he lived, so he bought a bulldozer, "armored it" by reinforcing all sides with concrete and steel, then demolished several city buildings. In both cases, these dudes died (stack killed by police when the broke open the tank, heermeyer suicide when his bulldozer broke down.

speaking of shackled and dumb, you know what's a huge pet peeve of mine? When you go to best buy or wherever and they have a huge bank of TVs, but you can't see the most important thing - the remote control! the remote control is something you touch every day and if it doesn't work well then that sucks.

"just get a universal remote!" --unwashed masses

I don't like universal remotes becuase they're overly complex and by virtue of being designed for all tvs, they're not a great fit for any tv. Nothing's better than a simple well laid out ergonomic remote with thoughtful design. But you can't see this at best buy!! Try next time you're there, requesting to see the remote control.

another thing that bugs me? start up time! it takes forever for my samsung tv to start up. I understand screen delay because of the lighting or whatever. But at least make a chime right away? What happens is I push the button and nothing happens, so I wonder if my button press registered, so I press it again but the TV did turn on before so now I'm actually turning it off, so I step away for a couple mins to have it settle into a particular state (on or off, just make up your mind!) then I try again.
