i don't make people gun nuts. they make themselves gun nuts. like the guy who killed to man in the theater for sending a text message. people who refuse to acknowledge any mitigating factors between them and owning a personal arsenal.
why wouldn't a responsible gun owner choose to operate his guns in safe manner, such as with an interlock so that only he can shoot them? would'nt you want to be responsible?
I'm uncomfortable when I'm around strangers who are armed. there's nothing irrational about that, it is a fact. Why do you insist 100% unfettered gun "do what you want" instead of meeting me in the middle?
that may or may not be true but the quote was from the 90s and the debate over the original brady bill, when the focus really was on AK47s, etc.
to be honest, I'm really surprised by the absolutist nature of gun nuts. Many people are uncomfortable with guns in their communities. instead of rallying against any moderation or worse like in the summary threatening people, find ways to compromise and come to consensus. it doesn't have to be black or white.
I'm lazy so I didn't look into this too much. But it fails even a cursory inspection. As to your Biden quote "Banning guns is an idea whose time has come". It is from this NYT article: http://www.nytimes.com/1993/11...> the article is about a law to ban the domestic manufacture (not sale or ownership) of assault rifles (the brady bill).
But Senate supporters of the measure said they would apply whatever pressures they can muster on the House and called on constituents to write and call their representatives. "The House better understand the power of an idea whose time has come," said Senator Joseph R. Biden, the Delaware Democrat who heads the Judiciary Committee.
surely you see the difference between a vote on the assault weapons ban and a vote to "ban guns". methinks you're being dishonest.
i don't know what fine structure constant means. my office has solar panels and we produce 30kw, so I don't think 100kw is a lot. also, any miner will tell you that it is hot underground, indicating these reactions are more common than you think (when the nuclear reaction happens it creates lots of heat).
i remapped copy to be ctrl-a. so for me the flow is mouse highlight the entire article, ctrl-a, ctrl-v. but ctrl-v i mapped to the application switcher, so one at notepad I have to go to the edit menu and choose paste.
there's the issue of market share and the issue of inherent security design. Android is as secure as a sieve, which is why it had 97% of the malware even when it had small market share. iOS has always had very low malware, even when it was the only kid on the block. You'll note that every instance of iOS malware is so unique and rare that it makes the news and the slashdot front page, while android stuff isnt' commented in. Wasn't there a bug in 4.2 in earlier that makes the phones completely insecure, yet won't be patched on millions of phones?
what about regular boots that aren't special system boots or security boots. and what about privelage escalation where a virus gets access to do a special system boot?
surely you get more out of watching a movie on an HDTV than watching it in a small corner window while playing freecell. what is freecell, anyway? is that like a new version of candy crush?
they would have to build hardware features into phones so that a movie drm could disable phone functions on the fly, like screen cap or video out. i wonder if you can determine the number of people watching a video based on the feed from the camera? then you could charge accordingly.
look, it goes back to the idea of charging a fair price to see a movie. for me, a fair price to see on a phone will be less than a fair price on a tv will be less than a fair price at a theater. As a consumer, it sucks for me if the price for a movie is equal across all media, because it never fits my percieved value.
another example of context. what's the value in reading your comments - none. what's the value in my comments? high. so if dice charged a flat fee then the customer may be disappointed depending on if he read your comment or mine. that is why the slashvertising model works best.
this makes sense based on my own experience. I get a lot more value from a movie in my home theater than I do from watching the same movie on my phone. So if I have to pay $5 to watch it on my big screen tv, I'm not going to pay $5 to watch it on my phone!!!
The post implies that katzenberg is making an arbritrary technical distinction. in fact, what he's saying is that customer value scales with screen size, and the price should too.
At some point the whole prosecution process is so convoluted and loaden with the egos of the prosecutors and the defense attorneys, plea bargains and with public opinions and botched investigations
agreed, look at the amanda knox case. that thing is a nightmare of italian lawyer and judge egos scrambling to avoid embarrassment. So it sends an american girl to prison for 28 years. so what?
that's cool, people should be called out when they don't cite interesting claims. I didn't provide a citation earlier because I didn't know where I learned it, but I did some research-fu.
“There’s been speculation about some standalone films that are in development, and I can confirm to you today that in fact we are working on a few standalone films. Larry Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are both working on films derived from great Star Wars characters that are not part of the overall saga. So we still plan to make Star Wars 7, 8 and 9 roughly over a six-year period of time, starting 2015. But there are going to be a few other films released in that period of time too.”
I wonder which characters they'll be profiling? Ain't It Cool News says that Yoda is first.
but all of this is based on year-old news, so who knows what the current situation is.
actually disney has big plans for star wars, like they do for marvel. they're going to do one movie every year, alternating between a group movie and an individual character movie (ie. a movie about yoda). kinda like avengers movies and cap america thor iron man etc.
My expected level of dissapointment is zero because the movie will be freaking awesome. max von sydow is a badass and I can't wait to see which sith lord he will be. i assume all the original cast will have a brief cameo, not a major role like the mistake in IJ4. The other cast I haven't heard of. What about James Earl Jones? I guess it doesn't matter since Vader is mort, although there could be flashbacks etc.

it's not his own research because it's not true. nailed it: http://yro.slashdot.org/commen...

maybe it's a technology limitation and we'll be able to see them with bigger telescopes.

The tabs are still rounded, and I want the square ones back.
dude, you need to chillax or take some meds if you're so heavily invested in the shape of your browser tabs.

Last July Bob Iger went on CNBC and said
“There’s been speculation about some standalone films that are in development, and I can confirm to you today that in fact we are working on a few standalone films. yeah and the second movie was one of the best action movies ever so it puts a pot in the "sequelz is badzorz" meme.
My expected level of dissapointment is zero because the movie will be freaking awesome. max von sydow is a badass and I can't wait to see which sith lord he will be. i assume all the original cast will have a brief cameo, not a major role like the mistake in IJ4.
