tl;dr Marx was right that an over-production would leave the majority in poverty, and the only economically sustainable solution is sharing. It's not "desperation", but an inevitable and rational necessity.

It's called the sharing economy, but there's not actually sharing co-op style. It's more finding use of idle assets. If you own a car but you only drive 1 hr each day, then it goes unused 23 hrs. And if you're unemployed, you have idle time that you're not using. Get some money here.

this is the same thing they do for amazon instant streaming. in the app you can watch all of the free streaming and all of the movies you have already rented, but you can't rent any movies. to rent a movie you can only do that from their website. and the app itself doesn't have links to renting on the website. it's a pain in the ass and a big reason to not use amazon instant streaming. I only rent from amazon when something isn't on netflix, hbogo, iTunes, or amazon prime. canistream.it is priceless.

For the record: despite all its story consistency failings, Episodes 2 & 3 were NOT THAT BAD. Episode 3, in fact, was a genuinely enjoyable movie! Episode 1 was exactly the steaming shitpile that everyone makes it out to be, except for the first 15 minutes, the pod races and Darth Maul's battle with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon.

interesting... i agree the movies got better from 1 to 3. 3 still had its problems - noooooo! do not want! but 1 was abysmal. interesting you call out the moments you chose. the first 15 mins were a super let down for me. trade dispute with the trading guild the fuck? CGI droids? the only cool part here was when they plunged their lightsabers into the metal wall to cut a door. the pod race went on about 10 mins too long, and featured that kid which made it even more annoying. the darth maul battle was pretty awesome. generally speaking, both obi won and qui go were awesome and saved the movie.

What they call "features" are actually magazine-quality features, not the SEO stuff you find elsewhere. also, i like the "inside baseball" look at how AAA titles come together (or go off the rails). In short, I am intrigued by their ideas and subscribed to their newsletter.

a mcguffin doesn't mean there isn't a plot. there are some great movies that have mcguffins. off the top of my head, the suitcase in pulp fiction (the one that glowed gold when they opened it). it was an important item that everybody wanted but you never found out what it is. The second is the "rabbit's foot" in mission impossible III. Everybody wants it but you never find out what it is. I don't remember if they ever even uncover it!

point is, you can have rich plots even with a mcguffin.

for the purpose of video games, I'm a huge fan of assassin's creed, and am currently kicking pirate ass in ACIV. at first i was disappointed in the story, because it appears to be not directly tied to the whole assassin/templar thing and just a tacked on pirate adventure. but now I'm completely embracing it. I'm thinking of it as "Assassin's Creed Caribbean Vacation". And it's fscking awesome and fun.

For accessing sequential data, serial interfaces do pretty well. You send an address once, and just keep on clocking out (or in) high speed serial data and the flash controller in the card increments the address automagically.

true but why did they rip off the HTC One name? best case it makes them look unoriginal, and worst case they get shut down in the courts.

The problem comes with XIF implementations that are highly random, and change access addresses often. That is not fast on a serial flash where address setups take a long time.

agreed but I think this can be solved in software.
