Troll? Hell that should have been marked +5 FUNNY!!!

HINT: you should be able to tell that this was joke because the goatse.cx link was clearly marked as "adult entertainment".

Let's see, as a poor college student do I a) send $$$ to Bill G. and his henchmen [LOL], b) download a cracked Win2K ISO from Russia and keep running Win2K "illegally" or c) wipe the partition and put a free OS like Linux or BSD on it?

Why would I try Win2K if I need to get newer, faster hardware just to get it to run acceptably? Why would I try it if I need updated apps get the best performance out of it? And most importantly, if I am going to put a free OS on it four months later, then why should I waste those 120 days messing around with Win2K if I am eventually going to get rid of it?

Try Win2k? No thanks, I don't need another monkey on my back...

This is probably a troll, but what are you, some 13-year-old DARE honor graduate who swallowed the propaganda hook, line and sinker?

Nope, the reason we are losing the "War on [Some] Drugs" is because it is stupid to involve cops/judges/jails in a futile attempt at changing people's behavior. Drug use (not all use is abuse) should properly be a medical issue not a legal issue.

Then there is the racial aspect, where Blacks and Latinos are thrown into prison for drug violations on a disproportionate basis. Most of the violence that comes about from enforcing drug laws takes place in the barrios and ghettos of AmeriKKKa. If there are valid scientific reasons for this racist policy, where are the scientific studies showing that Whites are not affected by drugs at the same rate that minorities are?

The "War on [Some] Drugs" is just the White man's way of maintaining power over minorities. The crime rate is going down, so why on earth would "fiscally conservative" Whites throw and more more money at the "law enforcement/criminal justice" complex if not to continue suppressing this country's minority citizens?

Also to be noted is the fact that the reasons for a Marxist society are for sharing, where nothing is hidden. Marxism is something that benefits everybody, unlike capitalism, and any distortion of that instantly makes it not Marxism.
Well put. I keep telling people that China and the former Soviet Union were communist, not Marxist states. Most Americans look at you blankly and say "what's the difference?" ignoring completely the corrupt totalitarian regimes that have distorted what may have been a true Marxist movement at one time.

Examples of true Marxism do occur. A good example is the EZLN, the Zapatista liberation movement in Chiapas Mexico. To more fully understand why the EZLN exists, read Chiapas: The Southeast in Two Winds, A Storm and a Prophecy ...
Once again we must look at the basic requirement that we must act as ethical human beings, nothing more.
If we had perfect people (no greed, no selfishness, etc.) then maybe true socialism would be possible. As long a people are greedy and selfish then capitalism will work best.

The funny thing here is that many modern religions teach that humans cannot be perfect. We are supposed live imperfectly and wait for perfection in the afterlife. In essence, religions are support the status quo, no matter how inequitable or unjust the distribution of economic benefits are.

I guess that is why Marx called religion "the opiate of the masses". Get rid of the "imperfect human" dogma and teach people to strive for perfection in the here and now, and maybe then people will not settle for a less than perfect social/political/economic system...

Knowledge of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, particularly Amendments 9 and 10 has been supressed. Instead, students are taught how great government "intervention" and "help" is [sic]
Supression == Censorship! If the Consititution and Bill of Rights are supressed, why are they found in the back of every American civics book? Why are they found all over the internet if one only cared to search a little?

Besides, most people think the government is GREAT. They want social security checks, interstate highways, meat inspections, national defense, etc. The only thing that national education policy has brought us is standardization of the curricula throughout the nation. Don't you think it is important to speak a common language and to believe in a common culture?
the "war" on poverty (lost), and the "war" on drugs (also lost). Funding of BOTH those "wars" account for most of the rising tide of confiscatory taxation, and loss of civil liberty.
Come on, how about a few facts to buttress your hypotheses?

If you do a little research you will find that the reason individuals pay lots more taxes these days is because corporations are paying much less than they did when the income tax was first instituted. Also, compared to national defense, fighting poverty and drugs are small potatoes in the grand scheme of things...

The elimination of government as advocated by the Libertarians is hardly a panacea. Who is going to defend the nation from foreign enemies? GM? AT&T? AOL? Who is going to ensure your meat has no e-coli? Ronald McDonald? The Taco Bell chihuahua? Who is going to defend your civil rights? Microsoft?

That is a low-ball estimate if anything. I estimate that close to half of the stories have such abuse.

I agree that the biggest abuses are the illegal searches and the excessive force. However many suspects allow themselves to be abused simply because they don't know their Consititutional rights.

Many times the cops ask to search a person or vehicle and the occupants don't know that they can say no. Let the cops arrest you first before allowing a search, that way if the arrest is bogus the search is too.

As for the excessive force, the best advice is "DON'T RUN". Just relax and let it happen. Let them arrest you straighten it out later. If the cop screws up in the slightest, go to Internal Affairs and lodge a complaint. If you are in the right, you should be vindicated.

One should not have to resist overtly, but at the same time one should not do anything which will make it easier for the cop to make a case against you...
