This is retarded. Preventing M-rated games would eliminate most of the fun found in today's and the future's video games. They should quit trying to do this. It's pointless, we are Americans and this is our culture. We make these games because society wants it. If society doesn't demand M-rated games, then there would be no point to make them but we do, so leave us (and the developers) alone.
I think Doom being the next project is a fantastic idea, but I won't comment on that.
Now why was Paul Steed fired? What was the exact reason because I'm a little unclear on this. Was it just (mainly) because Kevin & Adrian were mad? If so, that's plain bullshit. Even Carmack was trying to object to his firing. Now if Steed did something really stupid, then I could understand, but I don't see/read anything about him doing someting bad.
You know, all these cell phones we find in the US are pretty hot. They look badass and have cool capabilities. However, the US is far from the coolest in cell phone capabilities and looks. We have regulations on what cell phones can do, etc.
If you want a badass phone, ship yourself to Australia and get the "flip phone" featured from the movie "The Matrix". Tell me that's not a badass phone. Or just go to one of the main Asian countries like Korea and Japan. Ericsson, Nokia, Sanyo, Samsung, etc. All these major cell phone makers make badass phones for other countries except us. Damn these regulations!
I know this has been commented on already, but I'd like to add my input.
I'm a semi-X-Files fan. I watch it when I can, but I don't have a heart attack if I miss an episode.
Anyway, I think this episode was by far, the cheesiest I've ever seen. It wasn't bad, it was just lame.
The funniest part was the "kill switch." The two guys were on the floor. One of them was plugging the ribbon cable into a hard drive and the other was holding a phillips screwdriver. They looked up and said, "We're installing the kill switch."
Shows that try to portray computers & programmers make us computer "geeks" look bad...very bad. They give us a bad name and it's so embarrassing. Little do real people know that most of us have lives other than computers.
Damn the movie/tv industry, if they're going to portray us, do it right or don't do it at all.
It's not based on Forgotten Realms. As much as I'd like to see Drizzt also, he won't be in it. First of all, there's no actors that could match the way Drizzt was described to us by R.A. Salvatore.
The movie itself will probably consist of some ordinary adventurers fighting some lame-named enemy.
Being a former AD&D player, I think this movie could have potential, especially with the latest special effects out now. However, what I'm afraid of is even if they try to stay true to the D&D rules, it may not come out as many hardcore D&D fans expect.
I will definitely see this movie when it comes out, but I will expect the worst. Bad acting, actors non-fitting to the movie, and worst of all, changes from the actual books that will make this movie a flop.
Every movie to date (that I can recall) where a director takes an idea from book and make it a movie is not true to the book. I feel bad to say that I believe this movie will only be a slew of eyecandy and nothing more.
They should've made this movie a couple years ago, when I still played AD&D. I would've had more appreciation for this idea.

Warcraft 3 Announced

First of all, The idea of developing a Starcraft II is pointless (at this time). Blizzard does everything in moderation, which is good. You have Warcraft II then the Dark Portal Expansion for it and Blizzard gives you time to soak it in before trying something new. Hence Diablo comes into the picture along with the Hellfire Expansion. Blizzard then brings you Starcraft and the Broodwar Expansion. Going directly into another sequel for a game after it's release won't give the programmers enough time to think things over for how to make a game better. Look at Diablo II, it's a damn improvement over Diablo I. That's because Blizzard had a timespan for getting ideas from both their own staff and hardcore fans.
Now the idea of an RPG/Strategy is a very well thought of idea. I am a Warcraft/Warcraft II/Starcraft player, so don't tell me I dont know what I'm talking about. First off, you know that in Starcraft, the number of kills was shown on each unit. When I first played Starcraft, I thought the number of kills were like experience points and that unit would get stronger. Apparently I was wrong and was disappointed. I was hoping Blizzard would incorporate it since it kept "levels" in Warcraft II. Now that experience is kept in Warcraft III, that means your units do get stronger over time (I hope, that's what the preview implied to me). Now the idea of roaming around, interacting with people, recruiting characters is also an excellent idea. It shows that not only do the gamers have to build a force and develop their base, it also means that they have to do some scouting so they can get more characters to join their army.
It's amazing really. It almost eliminates the bastard players that do not move and put Towers/Photon Cannons everywhere around your base. It also nearly eliminates rushers since there will be NPCs/creatures that MAY attack you while exploring. This will give other players some time just in case someone is a rusher.
Warcraft III will keep the strategy/tactician element, but I believe the incorporation of recruiting characters, NPCs, hostile animals, gaining experience, exploration, and unit efficiency will make it a good game.
For those of you that are bitching Warcraft III will be a failure, you are simply wrong. What game has Blizzard made that the majority of gamers did NOT like? None. Blizzard makes good games period. They know what they are doing because obviously they have the talent. Apparently they are doing something right when the majority of dominating gaming magazines are giving games Blizzard makes an "A" equivalent rating.
There will always be someone who will play it. It will be a big change from us Starcraft/Warcraft II players, but it will be for the better. Everyone will be "beginners" to this game because of the different gameplay. When Starcraft came along, I easily adapted to it and knew what I was doing because of style Blizzard makes their RTS games. No one will really have the huge advantage over another. Also, the previews leading to it's release will tide some haters over to the lovers side of Warcraft III.
In any case, when Warcraft III comes along, I'll be waiting in line to buy it, play it, and love it. I'm sure a lot of people can say the same.
Whoops meant "reader".
Congrats CmdrTaco. Best wishes to you and your fiancèe

Actually, not Spring 2001, but more like 4th quarter 2001.
All the info right here.
Nothing's for free. I hate people who complain, I don't wanna change my e-mail... big deal. You gonna keep the same snail mailing address forever too?
Um, I was casually reading until I got hit by a suddent attack of deja vu.
Haha. Interesting.

My 2 cents...
