    Pretty much any time nowadays someone wants you to panic, you should look very closely at the message they are trying to sell you.

    I just see some people stating some things they've measured. Not sure why you feel you should panic.

    If these are mostly natural forest fires (the real question at hand that all you zealots seem uninteresting in answering) the area will re-grow just fine

    If they are measuring the total amount of forest, it would automatically include regrowth from past forest fires. Apparently, forest losses outweigh forest gains from regrowth.

    North America and Europe, where there still seems to be a focus on broader education than STEM-obsessed India and China

    Seeing how the other day, there was a big news item about massive cheating in India, it's debatable whether they are obsessed with STEM, or just the diploma. Never once in my education did I ever have the desire to cheat, even if I could have gotten away with it.

    That said, the data you are going feed into that structure needs to come from a broad and relevant set of data and some understanding of the structure of that data or at least the underlying relevant drivers.

    You're describing the scientific process.

    You only need only Steve Jobs to design the outside. You need thousands of engineers to build the hardware and write the code. The engineers don't need liberal arts background.

    How does that make any sense? You're not suddenly going to be unable to buy things with real money.

    It's a gamble that bitcoin goes up in value, not that real money will become worthless.

    Even if bitcoin becomes successful, fiat money isn't going to be replaced.

    So it's clear that a diet containing no grains can be nutritionally adequate for modern humans

    But that doesn't mean that a diet with grains can't be superior. Plants didn't start eating fertilizer until recently either, and it's clear that plants with fertilizer do better.

    But ultimately, it's happening because that's the way the people at the very top in terms of wealth and power want it. The last think they want is for poor people to suddenly become successful, and develop political power.

    People at the top mostly just don't give a fuck.

    You can't disprove statistics with a single counterexample.

    Causation works various ways. Poverty can lead to poor stimulus and poor nutrition, slowing brain growth. Poor brain development is more likely to cause poverty, especially because a well developed frontal cortex is able to perform delayed gratification, which is very important for doing boring stuff like studying instead of having teenage sex. Doing boring but smart stuff leads to a better life later on.

    Another problem is coronal mass ejections. Those would most likely require the panels to be rotated in a safe position, with the thin edge facing the sun for the duration of the event.

    There goes the base load solution.

    If the collector is in GEO, the light pressure rotates through 360 degrees during a day. That should even it out.

    Since the space based system isn't exposed to regular moisture or oxidation though I'd bet most of it would actually last longer rather than less.

    It's subject to radiation, such as electrons and protons. If these hit the panel with enough energy, they will knock out silicon atoms, creating defects in the crystalline structure. Over time, this will cause the power output to drop.
