    The breakthrough is that they can project through the liquid and have it cure only at the surface layer.

    The problem with UV sensitive resins is that UV light continues to affect the material even after it's hardened.If you keep it in sunlight it will start to degrade the material and get brittle.

    Where are you getting 264 ? The article says 64.

    Raspberry Pi has about 850 DMIPS, or 54400 for the whole cluster, and an i7 has about 127000 DMIPS. And then you still have all the communication overhead for the cluster, and the divided memory. For floating point, it's a similar difference.

    If you can reach orbit from a planet then you can reverse the process and land on a planet.

    There's still a big difference between airflow going in the same direction as the rocket exhaust gases, or opposite directions.

    The common definition of super computer, is a computer with top performance compared to other computers. This one doesn't even come close.

    Yes we do, that's trivial. We've done it in one gee field

    But we've never done it in Mars atmosphere. And that's certainly not trivial. The atmosphere is too thin for heat shields and reasonably sized parachutes to have much effect on massive payloads. On the other hand, the atmosphere is thick enough to become really annoying when trying to slow down using a rocket while hypersonic air is slamming straight into the nozzle.

    It's pointless to start with Eliza-like scripts until we've mastered more basic skills. The work that's being done on speech and image recognition is real progress, but that's only a start.

    Another Thermodynamic neophyte... It is the rate of heat FLOW from the hot to the cold that gets you power our of a system, so you need to dump a lot of heat.

    Yeah, I know how they work. Electric motors don't have this problem. That's why they are superior.

    But given how they are used, with wildly varying power outputs, RPMs and operating conditions, they are amazingly good.

    Electric motors are much better. Very efficient. No problem with varying power. Maximum torque at low speed. Smaller and lighter.

    A full 'tank' of electricity takes hours.

    With current state of technology, yes. There's no theoretical reason why this couldn't be improved to the same time as liquid fuel, or better. We're still improving battery technology. In addition, people can plug in their cars whenever they're parked, reducing the need to go to a service station for a quick charge.

    Base load coal plants, even including all the losses, are still more efficient than burning gasoline in a car. And obviously, electricity has many sources, so with very little impact to the overall energy infrastructure, you can replace a coal plant by nuclear or wind.

    Maybe the problem can be turned around. Tell the vehicle were you want to go, and it'll tell you if that's possible, and what needs to be optimized to achieve that.
