I think you're really confused about the role Larry plays in the community. He's slowly creating a new language, which has little to do with perl 5. Perl 5 is actively maintained and has a large community of users.

The new search engine blekko is written in perl - wrote our own NoSQL database in it, too. We found CPAN to be an awesome resource; we use 600 distros from CPAN, and only found a couple of bugs in them.
Blekko's search engine and NoSQL database are written in Perl. We haven't had problems hiring experienced, smart Perl people, and we've also had no trouble getting experienced Python people to learn Perl.
Years after producing a crappy UI for Google Groups, which was worse than the threaded text-based readers most people read Usenet with, Google finally gets a clue? Say it isn't so!
A couple of years ago I was surprised when one of my HPC customers issued a press release saying that their machine ran Windows HPC. The high-speed interconnect we'd sold them had no Windows drivers. You can guess what was going on: MicroSoft paid for the press release, and the machine actually ran Linux.
Users have to pick between competing bits of software all the time. Who are you to have an opinion about how they should do it? They have the hard work of learning to use the software and using it, which can cost and waste a lot of money. It's entirely reasonable to think being GPLed is a plus or a minus when choosing a package.
Nor is there a way to associate BSSIDs with individuals or addresses in their system or elsewhere.
Unless the SSID has the address in it, which I see that several of the networks around my apartment do. "shadows109" is apt 109 of the complex I live in, 1600villa_107 is unit 107 of the apartments at 1600 Villa street, and so on.
The point of the short delay is that the person who made the effort to write the proposal to get the telescope time deserves a reward: a short time to write the first paper about the results.
If you look at other branches of science, they aren't nearly as good. But you're flaming your friends.
I don't advocate free wireless for everyone, but I did cancel my cable modem after I started using Google WiFi at home. You should move to Mountain View, CA, home of communism.
https://blekko.com/ is an example of a competitor which has its own index.
Perl has some nifty frameworks that can make you as productive as PHP for small web projects, and it also does large projects well.
But hey, if you're comfortable with PHP and Java, and want to pay to have your app completely rewritten, then more power to you.

It's Java that's the new COBOL. (buh dum, ching!)

How about searching for
industrial design colleges
On google, no actual colleges. On Blekko, it auto-slashtags it to industrial design /colleges, and 100% of the results are colleges.

This must be a first.
MOD PARENT UP, please. Thanks!

Dawning's previous fast machine ran Linux.
There's a lot of Fortran code, especially numerical libraries, that goes back a long way, to the 50s and 60s.

Some users have ideology, too. You can find them all over the Linux world.
Google is a company that doesn't care about ratings -- they get paid for clicks, not time spent ignoring the banner ads. What a dumb story.

It is only fitting that you misspelled "peek" in your review, soon after complaining about spelling issues in the book.
It is the job of Venezuelans to love or hate him. It is the job of Americans to pity Venezuela for letting its democracy be hijacked by this guy.
Fortunately, it seems that the destruction of RCTV is beginning to cause some good political processes.

Segway owners are too busy playing polo to form a political party.
I never thought I would play polo, due to my lack of class... but...
It wasn't clear that you're a nut until this posting; now it's overly clear. Shame on me, I suppose.
The astronomy community does exactly what you're asking for, you're just not listening:
* The data is made available to everyone after a short time delay
* The software to reduce the data is given away for free
* Our papers are generally available for free at http://lanl.arxiv.org/
The point of the short delay is that the person who made the effort to write the proposal to get the telescope time deserves a reward: a short time to write the first paper about the results.

d00d, it's not my problem you're too poor to live in modern America. We communists with free wifi must be capitalist stud-muffins or something.
Which means you might want to stop calling us communists. And you might want to give a little more thought to how to bridge the digital divide.
Then again, we all know sarcasm never works on the Internet.
