I know how we could keep it from burning up! Quick, someone call Michael Jackson and tell him to bring his facial cream (no disguisting pun intended). We lather up Mir in that before we send it towards Earth. That will protect it. Sure it may turn white, but that won't hurt it's career any. Hell look at MJ's career. Everyone loves him, cept for little boys but....
Since Mir is such a rare item, I'm wondering if they have a way of bringing it down safely. I.e., not destroying it on landing. Is it equipped with parachutes and rafts like our pods? Is would be a shame to make it into another titanic, unless of of course you trap Leonardo De Capprio (sp? ah who gives a..) in it. I would actually pay to watch it sink then.:-)
Seriously. I always double the speed on those little yellow signs (pills). They aren't the legal speed limit. They are just recommended speeds to get through the corner under a certain G level (spot). Since I love G(irls) I always double (penetrate) the speeed.:-)
I didn't get registered in time cause I moved. Is there a way around that?
I couldn't decide either way though. One us a moron. The other is a schmuck! They will both royalling fsck things up. So who is there to pick? There should be a law that requires Natalie Portman to run if there isn't anybody worth voting for... That guy in Maxim magazine looks like a worth while vote....:-)
In the final analysis, it would seem that the only thing which Harris has accomplished was getting one, possibly two ISPs (depending on AOL) out of more than a dozen ISP defendants to start accepting their email traffic, something which they could quite possibly have done without the expense and complication of filing a lawsuit.
They accomplished a helluva lot more than just getting off of a few ISPs' deny access lists. Harris got themselves statically added to many more sysadmins' access lists to *deny* all harrisinteractive.com, including all of mine. This was big news on SlahDot after all. In fact, I imagine Harris set a record for getting statically added to the most mail access lists in a short period of time than any other domain (with the exception of maybe popsite.net which is nothing but spam). This would exclude what getting on one of MAPS' lists would do for you. Think about it...
It's absolutely true! Liveprayer.com got on the RBL list because of the way they ran their mailing lists (without an opt-in method). After fixing the problem and being removed from the RBL, Reverend Bill Keller sent a message to all his, um, minions saying that MAPS was out to "thwart Reverend Bill Keller's Internet ministry and liveprayer.com". It is reproduced on MAPS site, here.
Honestly that's the funniest damn thing I've read in weeks! I was rolling on the floor, clutching my left nut and thanking God I use a Mac and Linux!
How about a computer for your shower? I'd love to Q3 or UT while my g/f suds me me up.:-)!
How about a little pop-out-from-the-sink-next-to-the-toilet computer? The King would love to check his mail and code while sitting on his throne. Wouldn't you?
Thanks for the comment, Wog. We have about 6000 students and probably 500 faculty/staff (I'm guessing here--I don't have actual numbers). We have roughly 2000 nodes. I think that would work but I somewhat doubt it would happen here, for political reasons. From what I've heard of our dormites that use Napster, most don't know or realize the damage they are causing. Usually they stop as soon as you talk to them. We do have some repeat offenders. We even have a few repeat offenders that are faculty members that think they are smart by switching to a different port... (I won't mention names though!):-) It is a problem that we have to deal with. Currently we are watching for traffic on all the known Napster (and the like) ports, recording usage, and forwarding that info to Housing. They are contacting the users letting them know that Napster is prohibited on this campus. Soon we will have to watch traffic as a whole and look for people using excessive amounts of raw TCP (stuff not recognized by EtherPeek). Then I have to decide if it's Napster or not. I get to play traffic cop basically. I don't want to censor content, but our pipe is only so big and enlarging that pipe isn't really possible right now either (I posted a reply higher up, see that. Anyhow, this is an idea to consider. I don't know how likely it would be to happen. Thanks for the comment!
Hi Operandi. Thanks for your comment. I have considered something of this nature. Some of our faculty/staff are part of the Napster problem as well. I would like to put a article in the campus paper explaining the situation, giving examples of what just one user can do, and asking for the assistance of those users. Our dorm tech has posted signs around the dorms that list Napster (and others) as prohibited and warnt that losing your network connection for up to a semester is possible.
We really need to add another T1, maybe two. Problem is our network layout inhibits any growth in our upstream pipe. I could go into the gory details but I'm too tired for that tonight. Let me say this though, we don't have what can be called a "functional network". We have what most would call a miracle. Broadcasts account for 65-70% of our total packet count (with peaks much higher), where as it's only supposed to be 37% at a maximum. Whole segments of buildings falling off the network at almost regular intervals due to the broadcast problem. A MTBF of less than two weeks. A MTTR of sometimes an hour, sometimes 2 weeks or more. It's all shared and flat as a board. Top that off with roughly 2000 nodes, 1/3 Mac, mostly PC, and a network that isn't routed and you draw a picture of a big problem. We are going to firewall and NAT the dorms soon. I'm looking for a Linux-based traffic shaping method at the moment. The dorms may have their own 'Net connection or they may get dumped back into our network at a limited speed. Feel free to email if you want the details on my plan. Thanks again for your reply. I assume the email address you gave in your user info is correct, edited of course.
I over did it in my bill paying last month and didn't have enough $$ to pay the SouthWestern Bell for my phone service and one other important utility (that company was nice enough to extended my deadline two weeks until my next pay check--I owe them beer). SWB ended up turning off my phone. I have a cable modem so it's not really impacting my lifestyle. It is so amazingly nice not to come home every night to 5 messages for someone I've never heard of, a couple generic sales pitches, and my mother wondering why I haven't called since the night before (why? still? I'm not 2!). Then I'd still have a couple of sales calls that night during super of a pron video (I usually leave the tape running if I answer the call."Oh oh baby. It's soo big. That's stick it in my..."). It has been off for 2 weeks now and I get paid this coming Friday (not today). You know, I don't really know if I actually want to turn it back on.:-)
I'm Still pissed that Apple bought into Amazon's BS. Dammit Apple, when Amazon gets kicked in the head, this will not show go for you! This just goes to confirm my belief that every so often even Steve Jobs gets his head squarely planted in his ass.
What all thinks that M$ is doing this to get their foot in the Linux door? Granted they are getting a lot of stuff that Corel bought last years, but I don't think that matters to M$. Hell if they wanted the app, they'd just copy off someone else and make their own proprietary version to compete. I personally think that M$ will use this as their opening to the Linux market, probably leveraging and remarketing Corel Office for Linux as their own. Bastards. Another good company down the drain.
Or maybe you went and left yourself logged in (by whatever means of authentication this requires) and your 6 year-old child started playing around on your computer. She thought she was playing a new version of Reader Rabbit but she was really selling her little brother into slavery, trading her mother off as new wife to some Middle Eastern desert guy with a rug on his head for 3 camels and a barrel of oil, and she sold her Dad's left nut to science. What is to prevent this? There are already enough scams in the world today. There are enough people trying to fsck us over a barrel (of oil). Wait till Harris Interactive finds a way to exploit this. Then we're realy screwed.
Yes clone makers were making cheaper machines that Apple and yes it hurt their bottom line but that wasn't what really hurt them. What really hurt them was the fact that damn near all the clones were pieces of shit! Literally! I am an Apple tech. We had more god damn clones in our shop than you can imagine. They were dieing right and left. The only good clones were the Power Computing ones. The Epsons, Umaxs, and all the others absolutely sucked. Who did people call for help? Apple. They saw the Apple in the Apple Menu and assumed the problems they were having could be solved by (or were caused by) Apple. That's when Apple support went downhill too, if you had paid attention. That is one thing that never did recover. They were one of the few companies that actually did their own support, with real trained users, not trained monkeys using Compaqs. Apple being a software or hardware company has never been a factor. Half of what makes a Mac a Mac is the hardware. Get you facts straight Jack
I run a public mirror server in my spare time. It's under frequent, if not constant attack. When the latest Mandrake release came out (something I mirror) I was attacked with some sort of FTP connection flood multiple times (we're talking 250+/sec). RedHat hadn't jacked me around. I mirrored 6.5GBs of their shit for over a year and they never got me listed as a mirror, even after countless email requests. Bastards. I canned their stuff two nights ago. My point is, if I was a RH mirror right now I would be bombarded with attacks with their 7.0 release coming out. A co-worker of mine had the i386 ISO on his personal linux box and was letting people download it locally. We discovered that his box had been hacked and the ISO had been replaced with one that installed a buttload of backdoors and a hacked up kernel and init to hide their activety. Nice.
I'm willing to bet Janet Reno's left nut that if this is upheld and the full amount was paid in damages (yeah right) that the artist would never see a dime of the $$. Go Courtney Love!
The Amazon Hitler youth will track your cookies, bagels, and biscuits and charge you a higher price than they charge others!

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if they charged you more if your referrer is/. or if you were using a Linux browser. Those bastards! They killed Tux!
