As far as ICANN goes it could be none before too long.
From the reg:
"Now, however, ICANN - despite publicly stated pledges to the opposite - intends to reduce the number of directly elected representatives from nine to five and even remove the public from a right to vote in future elections."
We're not talking about human beings, we're talking about ad men (cough spit wash yer mouth out) and spammers, it's the old 'if I don't do it someone else will'.
There would be extra-young.kids, all-you-can-eat.kids.
lots of great ideas in the world (communism would be one) but they don't work.

the domain name wouldn't work though, they are talking alphabetic symbols rather than length of domain name, i.e. you have the existing English alphabet of 26 letters + 10 numbers & - for _each_ char of the allowed 67, now you can also use ascii encodings of asian characters as well.
Singapore has had this for a while. very tech stuff.
UK govt is sponsoring research into a GPS type system that would allow them to monitors cars positions and speeds.
It would be possible to set something up with the collusion of your ISP, if you have CLID anyway.
Short of getting a certified tamper proof networkable GPS chip surgically implanted into your body, well you can't.
Which is a good thing indeed.
It's very hard to set up a system that you couldn't relay round somehow.
Oh, actually... if you want to prove your physical location to someone, have them come and meet you.
Would this card work with satellite? (e.g. Sky digital), would be useful to be able to view more than one channel at once here, not even to HD but even just via the TV out to video.
The states seem to vary on that, some you can't vote while in jail, some until you are off probation, and some you never can. 4% ineligable to vote because of this including 12% of black men (US totals, not Florida).
Was GW ever jailed? kinda ironic if became president, when he may not have been allowed to vote in some places:)
you want to talk about ridiculous downtimes? try a UK ISP.
and as for articles stopping half way, I quite often get 800K of a/. article and then an empty page, on a 56.6 this is no joke, I mean separate the tables FGFS. (actually this might be what you were talking about, I've always been scared to discuss it in case it was some disgusting personal thing I'd picked up)
If I was running a site that marketed to people based on thier locations, or ISP location anyway, then I'd write a script to do it in real time rather than subscribing to thier undoubtably expensive services.
altavista.com was doing this for a while, if you went there from the UK then a window popped up advertising altavista.co.uk.

The only true judge of how fit a person is to rule the US of NA (except Canada) is how high they can piss up a wall.
And shoot the losers, give em something to think about.

I smell the sweet stench of VC in this...
http://telneat.lipetsk.ru/
I saw an interview with him at around the time it was launched and he did seem to know what he was about, rather than just a figurehead.
I'd guess that they are going to die out as they haven't got a big enough market, and there will be better things coming along.
But then what do I know, I'm just posting cos the article looked so lonely all on its own here.
