  1. another idea on Ask Slashdot: Another Word for "Hacker"? · · Score: 2

Perhaps we should retain hacker, and call the crackers L33T H@x0rz because the crackers are obviously more knowledgable than we are

  2. Re:Coder seems the most obvious, doesn't it? on Ask Slashdot: Another Word for "Hacker"? · · Score: 1

hacking does not necessarily involve coding, as some previous poster pointed out, the "hack" on the MIT dome. Also, coding does not necessarily involve hacking. Hacking is more of a knowledge of computers and their inner workings or anything else computer related. Coder is too restrictive.

  3. hacking and cracking on Ask Slashdot: Another Word for "Hacker"? · · Score: 1

How about we as hackers, email every news organization in the country that we can find and explain to them in a well written (read: I'm not writing this letter) letter the subtle and not so subtle differences between the two. Perhaps if enough people mail them it could make the news. The "new/old" politically correct term for computer geeks and crackers.

Actually the TNT/TNT2 has hardware bumpmapping and the Q3a win32 test shows it off most gratuitously. Why wait for the G400 when the TNT2 has everything now, and is hellafast

Get a TNT2 when the drivers are finalized your image quality will be greatly superior to that of a voodoo2 err I mean 3. Sure you'll lack maybe all of 5 fps out of 65 but that really depends on which type of voodoo3 you got.. just make sure to get a TNT2 Ultra.

They figured it out by using the fact the game encompased three cd's at 650 meg's a pop thats 1950 megabytes. The carts the N64 uses hold roughly 32 Megabytes each and that's the large ones so 1950/32=61 cartridges with each cart priced around 60-70 dollars for list price that makes 4265 dollars by my account.. Square and Sony were being very generous with their understatement. And that, is how they arrived at the cost.

In the press releases they say DVD. Poor Nintendo has always been set on carts. Now they realized the error of their ways when FF7 would have cost over 1000 dollars to put on cartridge. ;)

Intel makes CISC architecture chips which run too hot to put in a gaming platform, the only logical thing to do is run an Altivec RISC chip to power the Dolphin. I'm assuming the chip will be based on the G4 PowerPC instead of the G3. Beside's the G3 is faster than an equal megahertz P3 it would make no sense to use Intel.

    Just my 2 cents
