I really don't think this makes huge companies any likely to do any changes, at least until now.
A planet is an object with mass enough to become rounded because of it's own gravity. It also "dominates" it's orbit, being the object more massive by far.
Ceres was considered a planet, but then an asteroid, as June, Vesta and Pallas were discovered in almost the same orbit.
Then come the definition of dwarf planet, in which Ceres was "upgrade" and Pluto "downgraded", because they're rounded for it's gravity, but do not dominates their own orbit.
