I've been trying for a solid year to go full chromebook and I've failed for the following reasons. In theory - if I put Linux on it, it should be easier, that's on my todo. It also may be because I went super cheap [$250] for my replacement but here are my issues:
- GoPro video editing - always go to my Mac for this - Managing files on an NFS: I have a NAS running at home and being able to drag and drop files quickly is easy on my Mac - a slow pain in the butt on the chromebook. The NFS and SFTP options are barely supported and cludgy - Stability of Apps - VLC crashes on the chromebook, some of them just feel like the lack polish. A lot of the apps I end up using are android apps scalled. Fine for a $250 throw around airplane laptop, but I think I am going to keep the mac as a power user.
Even worse was when I went on a burnout 3 binge. I would pull alongside a tanker trailer and start calculating the best angle to hit it so that i could bounce over the median into oncoming traffic.
It certainly did change my temporary assesment of situations.
This is all just rumor mill, but it would be rather exciting if they could get a emulation done without having a performance drop compared to the existing hardware.
It shouldn't be that hard, since it is just a PC emulation on a Power PC, however, the main reason they were trying to avoid backwards compatability wasn't that it wasn't possible or even too costly, but that there were security bugs that they didn't want to spend the time to fix(seems like a recuring theme for M$)
I guess all science really is, is a build up for cheap and better party favors.
As far as "unstable platics" go, I guess I shouldn't start buying stock in plactive electomagnetic train parts yet, but thank you for clearing it all up
Does this IBM spin-o-scope allow us to create new magnetic materials?
So if we can change the spin of electrons, and the ratio of up vs. down electrons creates magnatism, does this mean that magnetic plastics are feasable? Simply align enough electrons up to create a positive charge?
It might be a "sign of the times" regarding the Memory Stick, but I just purchased a Sony branded adaptor that converts the memory-stick Pro (their new one) not to a PCMCIA or USB, but rather to a Compact Flash card reader. Now that's using your head Sony.
It apears that they realized their technology isn't the end all be all of the world.
I don't think this will explode into a Betamax fiasco, but more rather a DVD-R and +R situation. At least from my standpoint, both suck, but I don't really have to worry about them because they've done a good job of making things compatible.
No one ever believed it was possible untill the Apple superdrive, so maybe they don't think they can make a combined player untill some other high priced company puts one in for "simplicity."
Or maybe this is just me hoping that the nice new Progressive scan DVD player I just bought isn't worthless
Is it just me, or is this a bad attempt at trying to gain sales numbers by being "as cool GTA3." I think that perhaps the gaming industry is taking itself too seriously. It certainly can be proven that a bad banned book gets read a lot more than just a bad book, and if they can stir up trouble, it might just stir up their sales.
I'm still anxiousially awaiting the "replacable knee" I think if you can grow the tendons and bones for knees, you could even have a comercial product. Everyone has bad knees and are looking for an upgrade?

I rememeber reading about the ATI card, but where did you find out about the controller design and the Hard Drive?
Sounds like some great information!
