    Second, Google is unwilling to provide such a plugin because it would interfere with the company's ability to scan e-mail and build advertising profiles.

    Actually they were working on a PGP plugin for Chrome, though it's moving very slowly, possibly dead.

    My guess is Steam reconfigured their caching servers in an attempt to mitigate the DDoS attack and accidentally screwed things up (caching signed-in requests).

    1. There is no way to dismiss the tray icon or stop it from running on startup even after signing up.
    2. If you drag it to the overflow area it goes back after a reboot.

    The proportion of women in my workplace is about the same as the proportion of women in my computer science courses. Blame schools, parents, or the media. This imagined discrimination in the workplace has nothing to do with it.

    Bullshit. The difference between 60 and 120 Hz is incredibly obvious. Also I have no idea what you're talking about but video cards have always supported more than 72 FPS, the only limit is the display, and many CRTs back in the day went up to 85 Hz or higher.
