  1. As a diabetic on Google Proposes 'Needle-less' System For Drawing Blood (thestack.com) · · Score: 5, Interesting

As a diabetic I have to say this sounds pretty cool. Pricking fingers 3-4 times per day sucks. I would be happier if they found a way to restore insulin production to my pancreas, but I'll take what i can get.

The twin cities (Minneapolis, St Paul) is actually a fairly expensive area to live (I've lived there). Rochester, MN also has some expensive realestate.

  6. Re: Children or not on Chicago Sends More Than 100,000 "Bogus" Camera-Based Speeding Tickets · · Score: 1

I believe what is being talked about is mostly school zones and parks that have signage that states something along the lines "speed limit 25 when children are present". The cameras have no view of present children and issue the speeding ticket anyway when in fact the driver may not be driving over the normal speed limit at all.

  7. Live normal on Ask Slashdot: What Would You Do If You Were Suddenly Wealthy? · · Score: 1

The way to be treated like a normal human being is to live like one. I would buy a modest but nice house on a bunch of land in the country, buy some cars and toys, nice stuff but not exotic or ultra extravogent. In addition to that be generous with my time and cautiously generous with my money. When people see that you are wise (not a pushover) and normal they treat you as such.
