if a prosecutor doesn't prosecute the "murders for hire" then how in the fuck it's just for him to use those as reasons for giving a harsher sentence? he didn't charge him with those crimes.

The prosecutor will NOT ask for "harsher sentence" -on the base that the convict is/was suspect for some other crime ("murders for hire")-, but he will just INFORM the judge deciding the sentence (for the NON-"murders for hire" crime(s)) that the convict (for the NON-"murders for hire" crime(s))... IsNoGood! In other words, he will do the opposite of what the defence lawyer will do, who will claim something unrelated to the crimes of the convict (e.g., he feeds stray dogs!) so the judge must show some mercy. I use something some anonymous wrote as a reply to me (agreeing with me): "The use of evidence of uncharged crimes is legitimate, because he's not punished for those crimes only what he's been convicted of."

it's not usual in europe for prosecutor to say that the accused is guilty of crimes he is not being charged for, as if being guilty of those crimes was a proven fact. a separate probably going through case would be grounds for lesser sentence in the one case(since the total would grow up - also, in europe in general stacing of sentences doesn't work in the same way so there isn't , as much anyways, of cases where people have sentences of hundreds of years...)

The prosecutor (and the defence lawyer) will just inform the judge about the personality of the convict - something that i think IS usual in Greece/Europe/USA when the judge decides the sentence. For example: in the sentencing phase (after the convict has been found guilty) a prosecutor may inform the judge that the convict is suspect for other crimes - this is a "hint" for the judge that the convict is not a "saint who made a mistake", so he will not show mercy.

it's bullshit and good grounds for appeal... even more so because the feds were soliciting him those "murder for hire" offers.

Well, I AM NOT A LAWYER, so...!

It seems to be a social justice tech pundit initiation ritual to attack Linus Torvalds' management style and the culture that surrounds the Linux kernel.

It's not a bug, it's a feature. It's not supposed to be welcoming, it is supposed to be a filter, because the wanna-bees far outnumber the bees. Complaining about it is like complaining about the nature of special forces training. It is demanding, unsympathetic, and hostile to failure for a damned good reason - because the cost of failure is high, higher than every other open source project. The claim that that is what keeps women out is self-defeating, because you're not advocating for women, you're calling them weak and incompetent far more plainly the dog whistling of the Internet misogynist.

No one is obliged to change their culture to suit the delicate sensibilities of someone else. You want to fit in with a foreign culture, the onus is on you to change, not the other way around. If you want more women to participate in the Linux kernel, the onus is on you to change how the wider culture indoctrinates women, so that they can learn how to correctly perceive the nuance that exists in that style of hyperbolic insulting criticism, which most men understand even if they don't like it.

Give it a chance and I think you'll find that it's a lot more fun and honest and helpful than the passive aggressive style of criticism that the social justice cult considers "constructive".

As someone who some decades ago served for a couple of years as a conscript in the Greek S.F. i must fully agree with everything in your comment - and you don't even need to be a S.F. macho guy (who at the beginning of his training received mostly psychological pressure, as it is usual in S.F. selection phase) to understand what must be done in any environment (i would cry like a little girl in a serious 5-6 year olds' training ballet class!) that tries to seperates "wanna-bees" from "bees". And i must state that i especially like your last phrase: Give it a chance and I think you'll find that it's a lot more fun and honest and helpful than the passive aggressive style of criticism that the social justice cult considers "constructive".

Dude numbers please. You're giving me anecdotal evidence. I'm guessing you're one of those Athenian Golden Dawn members then. You should actually visit agriculture based cities. I live in Lamia. Most of my friends are in the agriculture business. You could have made that argument a few years ago (and still not be correct), but today illegal immigrants are basically out of a job here. That's because Greeks are taking their low income jobs, not because they are better, but because they are Greeks that are doing their job at the same price illegal immigrants used to do the job for.

I live in Athens but i was borned and raised in agriculture based city, which i often visit - while i accept that things changed, i can still claim that the vast majority of workers in big fields are illegal immigrants. Plus, here in Athens those illegal immigrants also have jobs in (low pay) second and third sectors of economy. I gave you numbers: at least 1 million illegal immigrants work, survive, and raise their families (so, i am not talking about those who are here just in-between their route to rest of Europe) in a Greece with 1.5 million unemployed Greeks.

It's the same in the US by the way. Illegal immigrants, usually from Latin america take over low income jobs in the US too. That's not because "Americans are lazy". You have to really understand why an illegal immigrant is selling his work that low. It has everything to do with him seeing his pay tripled compared to say Albania..See how frowned upon H1B visas are here on Slashdot.. That's not because "Americans are lazy", but it's because corporations use it as a way to drive down costs in the workforce, ignoring the standard of living in the US.

Your heart is in the right place, but the GD is using it against you. You should be proud of your nation. But right now, you're in danger of becoming your nation's disgrace. Just ask the Germans you eagerly agree with about their Nazi history. Germans (the people, not the leadership) are hard working and good people. I do not believe for an instance that their politics in the world wars had anything to do with their people being evil or the sort. It does have everything to do with economy and bad leadership though. Greece is living Germany's pre world war days. It's sad their media has such a twisted agenda.

I am glad that you are not the usual kind of anti-GD (plus, i understand that you are not "ashamed" for been a Greek, just because "you must be ashamed"...)! Anyway, i am not a kid, i have my religion protecting me from becoming an evil person hating foreigners, but... "illegal immigrants" are "illegal immigrants" - if not for any other reason, at least GD defends language and, by that, logic (see my sig).
