The statement clearly is trying to mislead people into thinking it's false. It's liek slappign a sticker on your car that says "I am a pedo". Sure you might be a pediatricst, but more people are going to think your a pedophile. Although many more will scratch their heads and wonder what pedo means.
Whether you think the original n-gage was clunky or "an odd way to use a phone", is now completely irrelevant that we have the n-gage QD, which rocks in all respects. BTW the "subsidized by carriers" argument is bogus, because you pay more for calls if you buy a subsidized phone.
So what are you hanging around here trolling for? N-gage QD and the games coming out for it rock big-time.
I don't see any reason *not* to get an n-gage QD. The quality of phone cameras sucks big time, so that's no reason.
Heres the hoels in yrou arguement: 1- Just because you plan may or may not (you can still get great plans with subsidies if you know what to ask, I know I work for a telecom), they still subsidize the phone.
2- n-gage QD is off topic, clearly their talking about the N-Gage. Which desserves to be mocked and ridiculed. Talking about the QD would be off topic.
3- This whole threat is about how the n-gage sucks. Clearly then you are the troll.
4- The games may or may nto be good, btu that irrelevant because almost no-one has one, and almost no-one cares.
Very very very few people care it's a s60 phone. Thus it hasn't sold very well. It's along the same lines as very few people care if a product is open source.. actually more people care about oss then they do about s60.
What are you? A grass roots troll? There is not, and never was any reason to mock n-gage
Lets see.. piss poor ergonomics, odd way to use it as a phone, bad screen aspect, lack of 3rd party support, and redicoulous advertising campaign. Products have been mocked for less then this. It might be a "cheap s60" phone but it was marketed as a game device. It didn't even occur as a blip on the scene in that market. As a for a phone, it hardly made a dent there either. why? Well basically cell phones are heavily subsidized by the carriers anyways, a 600 seimens camera phoen is still just 150 buck if you sign for long enough. So being a cheap s60 phone didn't matter, because s60 phones are subsidized anyways. And everyone wants a sexy phone with a camera. The N-Gage is a clunky redicoulous looking phone...
Actually, I did play it. I just never *paid* for it. I'm not calling its demise, I'm calling its failure for those that think it's the "next great RPG". It's not, whatever RPG you play first, is the the best.
Lol, you don't seem to understand mmorpg players very much. People who played eq1 stuck with eq1 for years due to commitment to their characters. It's onyl with the releases of eq2 and the eminent lack of support for eq1 that made many quit. I know about 6 people who reached the end game of eq1 (lvl 65 with almost the best gear available for thier class) and they still played it religiously. You fail to understand what their motivation is, their not you. They don't continue playign for pvp. They continue to play for community and they have a lto vested. They all switched to EQ2, didn't liek it and switched to WOW. None of this has anythign to do with pvp. And the next great RPG isn't anywhere on the horizon. By that tiem a significant % of the WOW players will have too much invested. It is the one you play first, the one you spent the most time on that grabs you. There are still hardcore UO players. As for your awkward english alluding to how people feel about it, it fails to satisfy your needs. Thats fine. If you want pvp play DAOC or AO. Theres a lot of pvp there.
Go there and stop bothering the 600,000 of us who are happy with what we got from WOW.
There were those of us that petitioned Blizzard to make a "hardcore" server where anyone could be attacked at any time. Since they didn't implement one, I didn't buy the game. I intend to stick to that promise.
My statement clarified is this: Warcraft 3 players will begin to hit end game in droves sometime around February and March. They will be frustrated with the game and many will quit. Specifically, I predict that by this time next year, 25% of the current population will be gone, perhaps as much as 30%. Many more will follow.
So your predicting the demise of a game without ever playing. As well as naming the wrogn game. Some War 3 players hit the end game about 3-4 days after it was released lol. Then the rest fo the people did it about a month later.
You assume every player is grinding WOW at a ferce pace. However most people I know have taken the last month just to hit 20. Why? because they aren't power gamers. Power gamers are few and far between. Most people have lives. So while 40 people per server will go through all the content soon, these people don't matter. It's the 5000-9000 other people who pay and play less who matter. People who enjoy pvp are even fewer then the power gamers. These are power gamers with a competative streak. Rare indeed. So while you may have hit the end game in a month, you didn't. And yo sound like a ass by declarign somethign dead without ever tryign it. Like declarign BSD is dead. Or MAc is Dead. Don't be an ass. play it before you make stupid statements.
Wake up. Seriously. Lol, I am a compedative player. I'm #18 us west for 2v2 in war 3 ROC. But the vast majority want their hand held and have nothign happen to them. Thats why there are pvp and pve servers. Some people don't have fun being ganked at anytime for any reason. Others liek the competition and your asserting the ones who do like it are majority is wrong. IT's the ones that don't that are. In war 3 notice the vast majority of games are custom maps. why? because the vast majority of players aren't good and have no desire to see me or you annihalate them in 5 min. They want to play an hour long game in DOTA. Your free to do what ever you like. go on a pvp server, have fun. But there are very few of you who have fun pvp. Most people don't. They play mmorpg to have fun in a rpg with friends and level their char. For the pvp's theirs duels and contested lands.
also this sentence makes no sense, please clarify: "The idea that you can have a fantasy world where everyone gains is what EQ2 and WoW are trying to embody. Yet there is no true reward. If everyone gets it, then no one truly wins."
Notice the lowbie friendly WOW is kicking all the others MMORPG's asses. why? because pvp is there but mostly optional. Get it into your head that you are an exception. Just like I know 90% of my friends won't play versus me in war 3. They hate losing.
Blizzard is notorious for killing "powergamers". Unfortunately, these people are what make MMORPGs fun.
You mispelled "PK shitfest" "F-U-N". No one likes the bully. It's only fun for the bully. So Blizz is prioritizing the 598,000 casual players over the 1000 hardcore players and the 1000 or so bullies pk players. In the end it works out for us, the less PK idiots there are the better. PVP isn't meant to be used to harass the lowbies. It's meant to test your stength against others and maybe build an interesting "war" between factions.
And journalism is withholding opinions and reporting facts without bias. Putting aside any political bias the Daily Show might have, they only report news stories that are funny. Which, again, is not wrong.. but if everything they report has to end with a punchline, then they are only reporting a small fraction of the total story.
Your first assertion is impossible, anything they report is simply their opinion of what went on.
Plus, Crossfire and perhaps the McLaughlin Group are the only truly non-partisan politics shows. Both sides get equal time.
Equal time does not mean non-partisan. If I gave 15 min to a fundementalist aryan nations activist and then 15 min to Ralph Nader, I may have given equal time but I've weighted the "debate" so much to the left that it's rediculous. Crossfire did this weighting to the right. Pitting smart and eloquent right wingers against inarticulate lefties who were sometimes flakes. this weighted the debate to the right.
There's a certain segment of the population that cannot stomach criticism of anything American, and unfortunately since the current administration is part of it, this segment gets over-targetted by the mainstream media.
this segment is also the dumbest and mostly easily influenced by advertising. Thus their worth the most tot he networks. They all naively beleive maxdonalds hamburgers are the best, that more GHZ means more performance, that american automobiles are just great, and all muslims are baby eating monsters with huge noses and vast hordes of ill gotten wealth....
Government spending money is not socialism, that's what governments do. Otherwise, they wouldn't be of any use at all. Bush, however, is not spending it on social policies, he's burning it in the name of national defense, something that, no matter anyone's opinion, governments SHOULD spend money on. Just... not that much, and not so wastefully.
I don't think invading another country is spending on "defence". That would be called war mongering, and it would also be called a huge waste of tax payer monies that only Halburton would profit from.
socialist agenda? wtf have you been watching? Bush is the wet dream of hardcore capitalists.
I say hardcore capatalists hate him, stocks did poorly during his administrations. The economy at home is stagnant. He is starting trade wars with Canada, and pissing off the chinese. He's bankign all his economic futures on oil. The only people who have wet dreams about bush are the fundies, and thats because they don't have sex with anyone because god forbid they enjoy anything except tormenting others.

The only country that could really invade canada is the US... and you have and we kicked your ass. It really doesn't matter if we spend 0$ on defence because we have 4 huge natural barriers to attack. The artic, the pacific, the atlantic, and gun crazy americans.
Kids and people get fat because they take in more calories then they expend in a day. Americans are getting fat in part because they don't excercise much but also becase they over eat. I currently don't excercise (A bout with psumonia kinda kills that) but i haven't gained a pound while I've stopped. My metabolism is in sync with how much I eat. I actually haven't been excersising regularly for months and I am softer but not fatter.
The people may not be athletes but they are accomplished in the things they do.
For those who didn't read the actual "article", the game's being developed by Petroplyph (http://www.petroglyphgames.com/), a new team constisting of lots of ex-Westwood (known for the Command & Conquer games) dudes.
I see, knowing the amount of creativity left on that team, it's going to look and play exactly like red alert with sharper graphics.
Didn't you notice the C&C games stopped changing after RA. They just sorta got a graphic upgrade and released the same game again.
Why on earth doesn't Slashdot set up a mirror first then link to that instead of bringing down people's websites? Bit/BlogTorrent are free last I checked. Linking to a 2.5MB file?! It's almost like they want the site to go offline.
It's about legality. It's totally legal to link, but mirroring may get you in trouble.
Part of it too is, Canada stipulates the loggers must replant the logged land while the Americans don't care. So while the cost is "lower" to lease it is compensates for reforstation efforts they must do while the american loggers may or may nto depending ont he state.
That's not... entirely... accurate. Specifically, the US government has placed purchase orders for airplanes from Boeing. This is somewhat different from the welfare that Airbus has received in the form of 'no pay back' grants with no expectation that they provide anything in return except 'jobs'.
There is more then just plane purchases. There also research projects with super high overhead, far higher then they should be. The missle shield project is one of them. Lots of corprate welfare there. A lot of aeronautic enginerring research/projects are over funded to boye those companies. The Us doesn't just buy plane....
BAsically the Americans think the canadians are cowards, which ironic given our past war history. We may not have a significant military now, but we try to do our share despite our size (1/10 of the peopel of the US)
As for being unreasonable, basically current administration and the last part of the last one completely backed out of a lot of obligations to the ISS, as well as starting a trade war (basically) with canada. Putting tarrifs on products (soft wood lumber) against rulings from the WTO and all the agreements they signed. As well as the cattle ban (Canada tests more, and gets punished for being honest abotu test results for mad cow). Most of this is punitive measure exacted on canada for not supporting you war.
THAT is why many Americans feel betrayed. It's OK to disagree with us (though we can sometimes be obnoxious about our beliefs, and I do have to apologize for that) - but we were dealt with dishonestly by the Chirac government in order to save it from embarassment and for the benefit of French corporations. Furthermore, I think the argument can be made that this duplicity not only gave Saddam time to prepare, but also encouraged him to try to hold on and divide the Security Council, and escape the noose, yet again - both of which are costing Coalition and Iraqi lives.
Thats very true, but just as the wine makers that suffered lower sales due to the anti-french backlash aren't the chirac government and the canadians your calling names may think our government if being a bit too unfriendly (even if the idea was right). It's very apparent the french have vested interests. But that doesn't make them wrong. The government of the US did seem a more reasonable power 6 years ago. Right now it seems to be the least co-operative and fairly deceptive.

That isn't a grant. That is Boeing being really good at playing the proposal system.
Whats the difference between getting a grant for 10 million or doing a 1 million dollar research project for 11 million dollars?
the difference is one smells liek fish to everyone and the other smells like fish only when you investigate a little.
