I bet if you refused to obey the no-smile order, then sued then when they refused to issue a license, you could force them to do so. Of course, it would cost you thousands of dollars. It's much easier to just not bother applying. Just drive. It's what probably 10% of the population does now. If you drive a mediocre plain jane car and don't drive outright reckless then you will never have to live in fear of being pulled over; it's only the red Mustangs and expensive SUVs they target.

Oh, and Welcome.....to the WORLD OF TOMORROW!!!

In Alabama there's no hardship license whatsoever. Suspended? Revoked? Sorry- you're not even legally eligible for a hearing.

In Michigan they do have one, but they also have a "legal system" that fines you for your "crime", then after that's "taken care of" they turn around and mails you a letter from the state claiming you own them money too. ("Driver responsibility fee.") If you don't pay they take your license and then threaten to go after your bank accounts too.

This country is run by criminals.

Most coding books these days have an online presence where you get the actual source code, and the text itself just points you to it.

Which is idiotic. Why not just put it on a damn CD, or hell, a cheap disposable thumb drive? If someone is paying $150 for the god damn book, why can't they get the same courtesy people used to get 10-15 years ago with $20-$30 books?

Perhaps it was just a small run book for one specific class at a specific school. So while the licensing fee for copyright clearance could be nominal, it might still be a lot of paperwork to be done, and a prohibitive cost for a book that might sell 60 copies a semester...

You're missing the point. Why publish a book with no photos? What is the fucking point?

Since the kids have to go to the web anyway to see the images, just turn the book into a webpage, with WORKING LINKS, and force each student to pay $180 to access the website for a semester.

Or better yet, download all the images off bittorrent for free, put them on a CD with html, and give it to them free. Or even better, print the book with these pictures and just give it away free to all who enroll in class. In completely unrelated news, some other miscellaneous university fine or fee just went up $20-30.

Actual "hormone imbalances" are rare. In the U.S., "hormone imbalance" is nothing more than an excuse for fat asses to excuse themselves for not getting off their fat asses and stop stuffing their faces with food. Funny, I spent a year overseas interacting with many people from many countries. Every time you saw a fat ass, guess what their nationality is? White, pasty American.
